My family and I traveled to Canada from March 19 to 26, 2008. We were in 4 differents hotels ( Niagara, Toronto and Montreal). The best one was the Embassy Suites Fallsview, Ontario. We are planning to come back, and my family and I definitely will stay at this hotel. We didn't have any complaints.

After all the reviews posted I was still left confused about the quality of the hotels here, so I hope this will help the next person trying to make a decision on where to stay.

The Embassy Suites has fantastic views of the HorseShoe Falls & the American Falls; the free breakfast buffett blew me away with its size, choices & quality; cleanliness was wonderful both in our suite & dining room & lobby.

In this area, a view is everything, so the more you pay the better your view will be; we were only staying 1 night & was our first visit here so for us a view from our room was important. However, if you travel here often or have a family & will be out seeing the falls constantly then I would guess that a room view would not be as important as the cost.
We paid $219 for a Jr Presidential suite which has an electric fireplace & kitchenette, seperate living room & was on the 38th floor.
You could also pay $89 night for a suite with a city view.
There are no "rooms" as such, they are all Suites which accomodate 6-8 people depending on what bed/couch configuration you choose.
Obviously, one needs to determine how important you consider a room view.

No matter what you pay, your breakfast is included & I thought it was wonderful & its unlimited, so you can really fill up & skip having to buy lunch!! There was 2 hot food bars with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, french toast, potatoes.
There were 2 cold food bars with cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit, muffins etc.
There was a seperate bar with hot cereal, toasting station with a good selection of breads.
There were two "cook to order" stations, 1 for omelettes & 1 for regular egg orders & so forth.

One note here though, the Orange Juice was terrible, I suspect it was a packet mix. But the coffee was good & quick at being refilled.

We never attended the Managers Reception though walking by it , it certainly looked nice enough & you get two free cocktails & snacks.

We took the shuttle that Embassy provides which conveniently pulls up right outside the Starbucks in the lobby. It is not free, cost was $10 pp, but is unlimited drops you at 5 of the major attractions around town; you can pick up or drop off anywhere all day.....parking is definately an issue in this town so parking your car for the remainder of the trip & using the shuttles is much easier.

As our trip was March 24, it was pretty chilly, the river is frozen up & obviously The Maid of the Mist was closed; however we were able to do the Journey Behind the Falls which was really impressive to go down into the earth & walk a third of the way across the Horse shoe Falls & to look out the portal into the rush of the falls. Its a quick trip but certainly a "Must Do"!

We found the Canadian side to be really clean & very pleasant with a ton of things to do & see for families, 100 million times better, nicer & cleaner than the NY side which is a shame since I was a NY resident for many years.

Also, at this time, you only need valid photo i.d. to cross the border.

We stayed for one night on Good Friday. Originally we booked the Magic Show package, but later find out about a special package with an additional $45 dinner coupon. It's a no-brainer, so we go ahead and booked the special instead.

Well, when we arrived, we were told the show was cancelled over the weekend, and because we booked a 'special', we were offered an Imax show instead. So I guess you have to be careful with specials.

Now, as for the hotel itself, it is really nothing fancy. We've stayed at the Marriott on the Falls a few years ago, and it is a much more refined hotel with nicer decor and better service. The only major benefit of Embassy is its larger suites which can accomodate more people and there is more space for kids. It can be very good value in that respect.

We had a fallsview room with jacuzzi and it was facing the Minolta tower with the falls at a side angle. For first time visitors to the falls who paid for the view, it might be rather disappointing, as the room in itself was 'Inn' quality (except the jacuzzi maybe as you can watch TV from it, quite cool).

Breakfast was okay, but the line up was very long as it was a busy weekend. We ended up swimming in the morning and wait for the line to clear up by 11:00 am. Even then, the lineup for omelettes takes up to 20 minutes!

Overall I would not pay big bucks for this hotel but their specials are worth considering.

“Worst Service with a False view Room”

Planned a trip to Niagara Falls for Family Day weekend (Feb 17, 2008) and made a reservation with the hotel for a one night package. Package included Queens Fallsview room with a $40 voucher to the Keg.

When we checked into the hotel, we were surprised to find that our fallsview room was actually the back of a building. And only if we stood next to the window with our nose pressed to the glass and looked to our left, we could see the falls. This was the hotel's definition of a fallsview room. When we called the front desk to enquire about switching rooms, we were told that it would cost us $30 to upgrade to a "Full" fallsview room, as our package only entitled us to a "partial" fallsview room. I said I would discuss this with my husband and will call back. When I called back in less than 5 minutes, I ended up speaking to a different person and was advised that an upgrade would cost me $365. These were the only rooms that were left if we wanted to upgrade. Needless to say, we decided to stay in our room.

That night was EXTREMELY windy and cold. There must have been a draft near the window because we kept hearing the curtains flap and smack against the window every 5 minutes. It was so loud, we actually slept on the sofa bed in the next room. Must of had 4 hours of sleep that night.

When I called the front desk the next morning and asked to speak to the Manager, I had the unfortunate experience of speaking to some manager named Bryan. He was so rude and not very empathetic when I complained about the room. He said he couldn't control the weather outside. You may not be able to control the weather, but you sure have the power to control the condition of the rooms inside your hotel. He even had the audacity to ask me if I left the window open. (Yes...I would open the window in the middle of winter when its minus 20 below outside). He did offer to send a service technician to look at the window while we went for breakfast. But he pretty much explained to me that there was nothing else he could do. Wish I had made a video of the window that night to prove what a horrible experience we had.

We checked out of the hotel early that morning and never looked back. Arrived home after driving for 2 hours and slept for 5 hours in my own bed when I got home. I'm sure they didn't even check the room after we left to see if our complaint was even valid.

One of the worst experience I ever had and would never recommend this hotel to anyone. If you are forced to stay here and there is no other possible option, don't stay in Room 1917 on a windy day and make sure Bryan Irwin is not on duty.

“Lousy Embassy”

Embassy Suites Hotel Niagara Falls / Fallsview

17 Mar 2008

We were excited to have a room on the 41st floor - cool. The only problem: We were given a room with 2 queens but we had reserved a simple city-view room with one king bed (with a pullout for the kids in the living room). Apparently what the Embassy suites offers on its website and what it actually has are two different things.
They upgraded us to a 10th floor fallsview room, with one king and pullout couch (in the living room) as I originally wanted. Problem: It was right over the restaurant. No view (falls, city or otherwise, just a big red roof) and it stunk something fierce (what is with you smokers in this day and age? What the [--] are you still doing smoking?)
Back to the desk we go with our two children. A jr manager upgraded us to jr suite with fireplace and whirlpool for a small fee. (Well ok, twist my arm). This room was great (except for the fact that the faucet dripped ALL night)
Breakfast is a fiasco. Super long lines (it's buffet). Tip: go early, really, really early. We had a great waitress the first morning who tried very hard to please our every whim and desire. The second morning, our waiter asked us what we wanted to drink and disappeared. We didn't see him again.
The fitness center: no weights at all, just a few machines and out of tune to boot. They should at least provide an affilitation with a local gym if their only going to provide a few machines in order to claim that they havea gym.
Dinner at the Keg and TGIF are seriously overpriced compared to any of their regular locations (the hotel tries to make up for this by offering you a coupon on select multi-night packages to lower the cost),
Now Starbucks... I am a serious Starbucks devotee. I NEED my doppio espresso. I have the locations pre-programmes on my gps and starbucks.com set as the default browser page on my cell phone. But at 35% more than anywhere else? Ridiculous. (We paid over 7$ for a tea and an espresso). Tip no. 1. : Go 2km up Lindy's Lane to the Starbucks near the QEW for a Starbucks with normal prices. TIp no. 2. Lie at Starbucks. Tell them your from the area or that you work nearby and they'll give you a discount.
Oh... and the reason they gouge us? "Sir, this is a tourist area". Oh golly gee. Maybe I should also be overpaying for my espresson in Miami, New York CIty, etc... They are tourist areas too.
The pool? Don't get me started... small, overcrowded. May I suggest adult hours?
The wait for an elevator was irritating. People actually started using the stairs.
A bright spot was the valet service. They were quick, responsive and polite.
A package that can be had includes tickets for a magic show. This was a great show but note that these "packaged tickets" ensure you will have seats in the latter half of the theater.
All in all, I will never stay at this hotel again.
