We've just returned from our trip to Niagara Falls and it was wonderful. We flew from Florida to Ohio to visit my parents and and then drove from Ohio to The Falls with them. My husband and I are in our 50's and my parents are in their 70's. We all had a great time!

We were at the Embassy Suites for a two night package, July 6 and 7. When we arrived the valet took our car and a very nice bellman (Ryan) took us to our room. We didn't need the car again as everything was within a short walk or shuttle ride (complimentary).

By the way the $20 per day parking charge didn't seem out of line to us, we noticed pay parking lots everywhere else in the area.

Our room was on the 37th floor with fantastic views of both the Horseshoe and American Falls. I don't think better views could be had from anywhere in the area. The room was very comfortable and clean. We enjoyed the manager's recepton each day with snacks and beverages. The buffet breakfast was very good, although a bit crowded.

There were just two things to complain about (which we did not). 1) There were some spiders having a get together outside the upper part of our windows. 2) They did not mention beforehand that the $45 voucher (actually $40) for The Keg or TGI Fridays did not include alcoholic drinks. (Well, they didn't mention it until our bill came, and the TGI Fridays was very pricey).

We had dinner one night at a restaurant across the street called Copa Cabana, which was excellent. It's a Brazilian style restaurant where the servers bring a wide variety of meats to your table until you tell them to stop. The price was about $40 per person and well worth it. The selections included filet mignon, ribeye, sirloin, lamb, chicken, etc. There was also live music for entertainment.

We would choose the Embassy Suites again for the fantastic views from the room and the convenient location. The Falls were the main focus of our trip and we were able to see them anytime we wanted from the comfort of our room, not to mention the fireworks display and illuminations at night. The hotel sits just above Table Rock and there is an incline railway directly behind the hotel to the Table Rock area.

When we checked out on our last day we took a short drive to Niagara On The Lake, a quaint town with cute shops and lots of pretty flowers and gardens, well worth the trip.

We booked 2 nights over the 4th of July. The room was nice size and we got upgraded so that we could see part of Horseshoe Falls, which was nice. The beds were comfortable and seemed to be new. On the other hand, the sofa bed mattress looked very uncomfortable and it was dirty. The bathroom could've also been cleaner as there were hairs and dust behind the door and in the tub. The staff was friendly. We purchased a Niagara Falls tour in the lobby which was a little on the expensive side at $150 per adult, but we were glad we did. We toured 5 places which included Maid of the Mist and Journey Behind the Falls. Breakfast was fine, although Friday there was fruit and oatmeal which they must have run out of for Saturday, because it wasn't on the buffet. Overall, this hotel provided a great experience for us, they just need to improve their cleaning a little.

“Over rated”

Embassy Suites Hotel Niagara Falls / Fallsview

8 Jul 2008

While the location was outstanding (we had a Fallsview room), the hotel itself was crowded, incredibly expensive, and I felt nickel and dimed for everything -- water, WiFi, $3 sodas -- even the "manager's reception" contained nothing more than a few nuts & some carrot sticks! 3 burgers at TGIFridays (without booze) came to $75. Very disappointing and way over-priced!

“Not Impressed”

Embassy Suites Hotel Niagara Falls / Fallsview

7 Jul 2008

Perhaps it was because we could not get a falls view suite like many of the other reviewers. Our first suite stunk of cigarette smoke and the second room was not much better than that. The wall paper was peeling, the towels were so rough they were uncomfortable and there were holes in the sheets on the bed.

The view was fabulous, the people were nice, the breakfast was excellent. The happy hour reception was sub-par for an Embassy Suites - carrots, olives, pickles, and a bowl of pretzels - but what can you expect for a place with 42 floors of rooms?

A word of caution regarding the elevators - there are 5 elevators that service all 42 floors. We waited up to 10 minutes for an elevator at peak times. Once I actually took the steps down from the 24th floor. It was also a bit distressing to find the Starbucks on the ground floor was price gouging. They were charging $5 for a bottle of water and over $4 for a tall latte. The price was almost half this at the Starbucks around the corner.

“Absolutely terrible”

We just spent 2 nights at probably the worst Embassy Suites. Generally, it is a 500 room hotel with a mob scene everywhere. Particulars: (A) The so called non-smoking room had a terrible odor; (B) There was one elevator servicing the 14th floor resulting in long waits; (C) Valet parking typically took 15 plus minutes to retrieve car; (D) Food/cocktail area unlike any Embassy. Crowded, withdirty dishes everywhere including where you get clean plates and bowls.

While they claim the TGI Friday in the lobby is an independent operation, the prices are outrageous. Try a chicken fajita plate for $29. An absolute rip off. I would avoid this hotel at all costs.

After we got home, we wrote to Hilton Hotels and got a detailed boilerplate response excusing all their problems. This is a place for unsuspecting foreign tourists with strong currencies who do not know better. In terms of food quality and cost, the new Casino hotel and Galleria is much nicer and more reasonably priced. Do not eat at any of the places near the Embassy.
