We've just returned from our trip to Niagara Falls and it was wonderful. We flew from Florida to Ohio to visit my parents and and then drove from Ohio to The Falls with them. My husband and I are in our 50's and my parents are in their 70's. We all had a great time!
We were at the Embassy Suites for a two night package, July 6 and 7. When we arrived the valet took our car and a very nice bellman (Ryan) took us to our room. We didn't need the car again as everything was within a short walk or shuttle ride (complimentary).
By the way the $20 per day parking charge didn't seem out of line to us, we noticed pay parking lots everywhere else in the area.
Our room was on the 37th floor with fantastic views of both the Horseshoe and American Falls. I don't think better views could be had from anywhere in the area. The room was very comfortable and clean. We enjoyed the manager's recepton each day with snacks and beverages. The buffet breakfast was very good, although a bit crowded.
There were just two things to complain about (which we did not). 1) There were some spiders having a get together outside the upper part of our windows. 2) They did not mention beforehand that the $45 voucher (actually $40) for The Keg or TGI Fridays did not include alcoholic drinks. (Well, they didn't mention it until our bill came, and the TGI Fridays was very pricey).
We had dinner one night at a restaurant across the street called Copa Cabana, which was excellent. It's a Brazilian style restaurant where the servers bring a wide variety of meats to your table until you tell them to stop. The price was about $40 per person and well worth it. The selections included filet mignon, ribeye, sirloin, lamb, chicken, etc. There was also live music for entertainment.
We would choose the Embassy Suites again for the fantastic views from the room and the convenient location. The Falls were the main focus of our trip and we were able to see them anytime we wanted from the comfort of our room, not to mention the fireworks display and illuminations at night. The hotel sits just above Table Rock and there is an incline railway directly behind the hotel to the Table Rock area.
When we checked out on our last day we took a short drive to Niagara On The Lake, a quaint town with cute shops and lots of pretty flowers and gardens, well worth the trip.
