There is a lot of choice when choosing a hotel in the Niagara Falls area.

We picked a good one here.

As previous posters have mentioned, this is in the area close to the Falls View Casino, but you will not get a view of the falls from this property. The falls are about a 10-15 minute walk away. It's a very safe neighbourhood dominated by tourists.

The front desk clerk was friendly and efficient, and got us set up quickly.

The room was spacious and clean. The hand towels were folded to look like a pair of swans, which I thought was a nice touch in a 'budget' hotel.

All doors are internal, and entrances other than the lobby require a key card to gain access.

There is a $20 flat parking charge at this property, regardless of how many nights you stay.

I was more than happy with this hotel.

“Budget Inns Defined”

Days Inn-Niagara Falls-Fallsview Casino

7 Jan 2008

This particular Days Inn is relatively new. I'ts a no frills establishment in a good location.

We were well aware that we were not going to get the same amenities as the Hilton or of the like, but we did expect some level of satisfaction and at best, a good nights sleep. We received neither. It was quite simply, the worst hotel stay in my life.

Visiting the Niagara region in January allows for great rates and low traffic volumes. Considering we would be checking in late and leaving early, dictated that we could save a few dollars for just the sake of a place to sleep. When booking, we were told that the Fallsview casino was "just across the street", when in fact it was about 3 blocks away. A little misleading, especially if you were eldery or handicapped.

Upon arrival, we were told we would have to pay a fee of $12 to park the car in a relatively empty parking lot. We parked in the adjacent Perkins parking lot, which was not signed nor indicated there were parking terms and conditions.

We checked into our room of bare bones basics - clean, but shoddily furnished with dated headboards, bedspreads and furniture. There were no shampoos, lotions, tissue boxes, thin small bath towels, liimited cable television of approximately 8 channels and those hateful, environmentally unfriendly styrofoam cups wrapped in plastic. Ugh.

Fine, we thought. It's all part and parcel of the budget hotel mantra. When in our room at around 9pm, there were a number of guests that congregated down the hallway. Even though they were about 50 feet away, we could hear them like they were right in our room! It was a little annoying so we left for a few hours. We returned by midnight to sleep. A half hour later the large group of people returned and continued to converse in the hallway, this time right infront of our door. This went on for about an hour until I went to our door and knocked on it from the inside to indicated that we were all too well aware of the noise. They moved down the hall and some into their rooms which one was unfortunately the adjoining room to ours.

At around 2am, my husband and I were trying to find solutions. We shoved the bedspreads and towels underneath the cracks of the door and adjoining room door to muffle the noise but to no avail. The echo and sound that travelled through the paper thin walls and door frames was amazing.

By 3am, we called the front desk and asked if something could be done. Securtiy went to talk to the guests and while I suspect they were considerate enough to keep it down, even talking at a normal volume was coming right into our room. By 3:30am we asked to be moved. The hotel obliged.

At 3:45am,we had to get out of bed, change, pack and relocate. We were put on the second floor, which was completely vacant and freshly painted. Upon entering our room, we were blasted by sub-zero temperatures from the air conditioner blowing at full tilt. Huddled under the curtain over the heater is where we were for 20 minutes until getting into our freezing cold beds. Needless to say, my husband woke with a cold with only two hours sleep, which was two more than what I got.

I went to the front desk in the morning and voiced my concerns. I also mentioned that I was not in any position to pay for my nights stay as it was completely unsatisfactory. The front desk person asked if I had breakfast. I said no, confused at the question. Proudly, he offered me free parking and breakfast for my troubles. I told him that that was unacceptable. He said he could not do anything else. I requested to speak with his supervisor. He said that he would let me know.

We realize that it wasn't the fault of the hotel staff, nor even the fault of the other guests to an extent, but moreover the substandard engineering and construction of the hotel.

We hope that this particular establishment will take measure to improve on sound proofing their hotel and adhere to their mission statement of:
"As our guest, you can expect warm hospitality and clean, comfortable rooms where everything works, to make your stay trouble-free and enjoyable. We work hard to earn our reputation as "The Best Value Under the Sun."

The hotel was priced well for the season (November) and location ($70/night). However, upon checking in, we learned there was a PARKING FEE. It was $20 for our two night stay and it expired at noon the day we checked out.

There was no lounge in the hotel, but they did offer 2 breakfasts at Perkins next door for two, and a prime rib dinner for two at a nice place, but it would have cost us an ADDITIONAL $40. If we didn't take the prime rib, but chose another menu items, it would have been $30, if I understood the options correctly.

With the meals and parking, we would have been up an additional $60 on top of what we originally thought was a decently priced hotel.

In addition to the charges, we had problems with the noise. Both nights, we were woken up from people walking down the hall. They were speaking in what sounded like a normal voice, but we could hear them clearly through the walls.

The TV had no movies and only had about 7 channels. The only toiletries offered were a small amount of shampoo (it did not seem full) and two small bars of soap.

The room was nice and the matress was ok, but the bedding left something to be desired, it was thin and small.

We were looking for somewhere to go for our anniverary weekend and my husband booked the Days Inn. He had spoken with a representative from the hotel, and was informed that it was a BRAND NEW hotel, so he was sure that we would be comfortable there.

Well, it was NOT BRAND NEW. That's far from the truth. When we mentioned that to the front desk person, who was very nice, he informed us that he had heard that complaint before and apologized, but the hotel had recently undergone a renovation. FALSE ADVERTISING!!!!!!

Our room was sufficient, but that was it. No conditioner in the bathrooms for you ladies, so if you're booking, bring your own. There are also no in room movies, which shocked us, I thought that was pretty basic. I passed by seedy motels on my way to the Days Inn which offered in room movies.

Also, the walls are paper thin, which led to two nights of no sleep. We were constantly being woken up by anyone walking down the halls, talking, even at low levels. Also, when we tried to contact the front desk staff to let them know about any problems or ask any questions, nobody answered the phone, no matter how many times we tried to reach them.

Overall, it was okay and that was it. We made due, but it certainly was not the romantic getaway that we had hoped for and would certainly not return.

Rooms are very small, have no view out the front. Window overlooks the back door steps of the convention center. Went down three times for ice, both evening and early morning and there was no ice. Was going to grab a cup of coffee at 5:30 in the morning and was told by the desk clerk that it was from midnight, the night before, and fresh coffee would not be available until 6:00 AM. A large, noisy window air-conditioner installed in the wall provides some cooling. Building is very old. Sheets are stiff like paper and "crinkle" as you move in the bed.

    • Disliked — No coffee, no ice, small rooms, loud neighbors, high price for what was provided.
