Stayed 4 days at Chalet Inn during our first trip to Niagara Falls. Stayed in a 2 queen bed room upstairs. Best thing is the location. Being that we did not know our way around we did not want to drive anywhere. We were 2 blocks from Clinton Hill which is very touristy and 3 blocks from the American Falls. We were close enough to walk around but not that close that there was too much noise. The manager was friendly and knowledgeable as well as the cleaning staff and breakfast person. The things needing improvement are frigid hallways, being able to hear next door watching TV, and need more lighting in the room. Overall the hotel was as expected given the price we paid. IF we ever decide to do the 7 hour drive again we may likely stay at this hotel. Niagara Falls itself is expensive - Midway tokens, food, and those cheezy haunted attractions.

“Great Weekend Getaway”

Chalet Inn & Suites

8 Jul 2007

We went to the Chalet for a quick weekend getaway with our two children. We live in Toronto and decided that Niagara Falls would be the perfect weekend visit because its a quick drive (under 2 hours) and had plenty to do for the kids. We planned our trip through CAA and selected the Chalet after much research. It's a great family place and as it was a busy weekend there were young "kids" too. A group of 20 somethings were staying along the same floor and of course were partying, that didn't bother us too much as it was to be expected and the management warned them that it was not to carry on into the night. We went out to dinner to a local place recommended by the Front Desk clerk and visited some of the most popular attractions as well as the new SkyWheel. When we got back to the hotel the boys had started up again and when reprimanded quieted down once more, but started back up again loud enough to wake my children. The management did not put up with this and when they would not leave of their own accord the management took it into their own hands and called the police to have them removed. I commend them for not putting up with this type of immature behaviour. These boys finally left and I was surprised they weren't charged with a drunk and disorderly. The next morning as we went for the continental breakfast we heard many other families share our same opinion, the hotel made the right choice and had trouble causing guest removed before it escalated to a bigger problem. The rest of our trip went smoothly with a visit to the Butterfly Conservatory and more of the "parks" related attractions. We went to dinner at the Skylon on our last night, and could even see the hotel from the Revolving Dinig Room. We had a wonderful weekend visiting the Falls and hopefully will be able to do it again soon.

“Beware!!! Hotel owners had us kicked out by the police!”

Chalet Inn & Suites

Please do your self a favour and DO NOT STAY HERE.

We booked 2 rooms for 7 people and we are all about 26 years old. It was for a birthday. Yes, I know, sounds potentially bad because of our age and reason for staying, but we did absolutely nothing wrong. Besides, we're 26, not 19 year olds who don't know any better.

We originally booked a 2 room suite that had a minifridge, but that was non smoking so we were givien 2 connecting rooms in the smoking section instead because one of my friends smokes. These rooms did not have a minifridge so I asked the man who checked us in if he could one put in the room, and he said sure. So 3 hours go by and no fridge, so I call front desk and a woman answers and she knew nothing about the minifridge. She said she seriously doubts the man would have told me that we would be given one and we can use ice instead. I said we have nothing to put the ice in, then she said well I'm sorry. I insisted that the man told me we could have a fridge no problem, but she said "Well he's not here now, I am". So I went straight down to the front desk and upon walking in, she had her back turned and she said "Just don't let him see you." She was talking to the man who checked me in, who was, in fact, still there. They were actually trying to lie to me about it! So then she turns around and realizes I heard what she said and says "Oh, there you are" They both looked like deers in the headlights, while I had a look of shock, and the man said "Oh, ummm, yes, we have a minifridge in room 312. So I go with him and get it, no more problems there. But the fridge was in an unoccupied room exactly like the one we were in, so why they didn't want to let us use it, I have no clue. Very odd.

Anyway, onto the main event. As we are about to go out for the night, we are getting into a taxi, and the women at front desk barges out in a furious tirade (and I mean furious, like it was kind of scary) insisting that when we come back from the bar, we must go straight to our rooms. Uh ya, fine...not a problem, but what's with the attitude? We had not been a problem whatsoever. We were not loud, no complaints, nothing at all.

So I come back from the bar at 1am by myself because there was not enough room in one cab, so I took my own cab, and sure enough, she's out there waiting for us. But it's just me that arrived first, but nonetheless she marched me like a soldier back to my room insisting on my complete silence while marching up the stairs to my room. Then my friends show up in their taxi and she does the same thing. We all complied, kept quiet, and just thought she was a nut case.

We ordered a pizza right away at 1am, and 3 of the people in our group had gone to bed...it was just the 4 of us awake, eating pizza, again quietly. We had music on, quietly, and it was just mellow music ie. Tragically Hip etc., and we get a knock on the door. It's 3 policemen who said they received a complaint from the woman at front desk and that she wants us out. So the police actually kicked us out of our room. I never received a warning or complaint from the front desk and the policeman said that she doesn't have to. The policemen were actually quite rude themselves and actually said "you can either do what we say or you can be thrown to the ground and have your teeth broken"...and it was one of the girls that he said this to! Anyway, I understand, the policeman assumed we were the usual unruley party kids (but again, we're 26) and wanted to be tough. We completely complied, gathered our things and left. We ended up walking to a motel beside our hotel and had to pay for another room and went to bed. Before we left, the woman inspected our room, because we had a $200 deposit on the room. After she inspected what remained our our "wild party", she concluded that the room was clean (obviously not consistent with an unruley party) and she did give us the $200 deposit back.

The owners here are literally abnormal, and just one last time for anyone who is still not sure, we were not loud, and we were not a problem. We've stayed over in the falls, literally about 50 times, regularly at The Fariway Motor Inn, Camelot, and Oasis, and had never had any problems or complaints, and I actually get a discount from these places because I've booked there so many times. But, I thought we'd try a new place. The owners at The Chalet Inn simply don't want young people at their place and painted us with the same brush as other young guests they've had in the past, and we paid for the mistakes of others.

I really believe the woman at front desk has something wrong with her. It was creeping us all out. Thanks for reading.

“Great Family Experience at the Chalet Inn!”

Our family of four really enjoyed staying at the Chalet Inn and Suites over the long Easter weekend, which was perfectly situated adjacent to Clifton Hill, the Casino and lots of great restaurants - especially family friendly ones! We stayed in a family suite and had plenty of room. Even the Easter Bunny found lots of places to hide his treats! Our youngest slept in the new-looking playpen that the hotel provided, and our three year old loved having a queen size bed to herself in her own room off of the spacious living room which contained the second queen size bed. There were two tvs, and free movies. The rooms were very clean and well maintained. We enjoyed having a fridge and microwave for milk and baby-food warming! The staff and management were very accomodating and even let us check in early and check out late to accomodate the schedules of our young kids and their nap-times. I would strongly recommend this hotel to families looking for accomodation close to the fun of Clifton Hill and of course the Falls where you will get more spacious rooms for the price (or less) of a tiny "fallsview" room a few minutes away. Of course, the girls enjoyed the indoor pool! It was too cold to enjoy the outdoor pool - not much the anyone can do to improve Ontario weather!! We can't wait to return.

“Perfect Location”

Chalet Inn & Suites

Americas Best Chalet Inn and Suite has an excellent location, it is not more then a 10 minute walk to all the main attractions Niagara Falls has to offer. My friends and family often travel to the Falls, we always recommend staying at this property.

The staff is friendly and helpful, it is a small business so you quickly get to know the staff. We have stayed at similar size motels and hotels in the same area, we have never been satisified.

The Chalet's rooms are bright and clean, with ample parking. The indoor/outdoor pools give you the option of catching some rays. The indoor pool is quite large so it accommodates many familys.

Only one complaint very small I add, is the breakfast, however; when booking your room you are told what is served and there is no extra charge for the muffins, pastries, juice and coffee/tea. After all we didn't come for breakfast.

I would definitley suggest you stay at the Chalet when in Niagara Falls.
