Although I didn't find Niagara Falls to be that exciting, the hotel itself was just right. If you are looking to be close to Clifton Hills, then the location is wonderful. With that said, you are still only @ a 10 minute walk to view the American Falls. If you want a closer view of the Horseshoe Falls, you will have to walk @5-10 more minutes. Note: you can get a distant view of the American falls from the 7th floor of the hotel. It was handy, if you wanted a night light view of the falls and didn't want to go out.
The hotel offered coffee/tea and DELICIOUS cookies all day long. The front desk personnel was very friendly and helpful with advice and assistance. Breakast was adequate, but if you are looking for a hot, cooked breakfast you will have to pay and go elsewhere. The indoor pool was in need of vacuuming, but it and the hot tub certainly were an added bonus at the end of the day. They also had a small exercise room and billiard room, which we did not use. Definitely for the location, cleanliness, staff and price it was a value at @$240 US for three nights in a 2 dbl bed room. The only down side is that, unless you booked a suite and paid more, the room did not have a refrigerator or microwave. And even though the color scheme was appealing, it tended to make the room a little dim.
I would also recommend renting a car and dinner at the Skylon Revolving restaurant. The restaurant was pricey and the food is mediocre, but the view, atmosphere and staff were well worth the splurge.
