This is the third time my husband and I have stayed at Abel Thomas House and it won't be our last. This time we were only able to stay one night but the other two times we stayed there 2 nights.
What do we love about this B&B:
Our hosts - Mary & Robin who are warm and welcoming and very knowledgeable about what is going on in town and where to dine. There is also a gentle, friendly Golden Retriever, Toby who is willing to greet everyone.
Location - The B&B is located in town only a 2 minute walk from the main street. You park your car and you can walk to the theatre, shopping and to dinner. There are lots of wonderful restaurants to dine at but our favourite is the Stone Road Grille.
Cleanliness - Abel Thomas House passes with flying colors.
Guest area - The guest area of the house is separate from the owners quarters. We like the privacy. You enter through a guest only door into the guest dining room. There is a stairway which leads up to the 3 guest bedrooms and a separate sitting room which has comfortable seating to watch TV or read a book. Very cozy. We stayed in the Blue room for the third year in a row. It has wedgewood blue walls and all the linens are blue and gold. The bathroom is very clean and functional with a nice shower and the magnifying make-up mirror is a nice touch for those of us who need to see clearly to get our make-up on. The bed is very comfortable which is important to us.
Breakfast - Mary is a very good cook and we just love her breakfasts. This visit she served us fresh strawberries with yogurt and home-made granola which was absolutely delicious. I have since emailed Mary for her recipe for the granola of which I plan on making a large batch. The main course was eggs benedict on fresh asparagus. Excellent.
If you get a chance to stay at Abel Thomas House you won't be disappointed.
