We stayed here while catching a show at the Toronto Center for the Arts, for which this hotel is only a short 10 minute walk. This hotel is a great location for this purpose, if not other things. It is close to the TTC subway and is just off of Yonge Street in North York. It is near the Empress Walk, a “small downtown” mall in North York that will give you a little shopping diversion if you so desire.
Our room was an upgraded King Executive Room on the upper floors. This upgrade was at minimal cost and seemed to guarantee me a modern room with a great view, for which it did. The room was clean and neat, with a King Bed, a flat screen TV, desk with executive chair, a pay as you play bar fridge that charges you automatically, alarm clock radio, hair dryer, coffee maker, mugs, glasses, etc. The bathroom was clean and modern with a large stand up shower only. We had a "special" that included free parking and a buffet breakfast (with eggs, sausages, bacon, potatoes, waffles, breads, fruit) etc. There was plenty of food and it was well worth the cost, so we did not have to hunt out a place to eat before checking out. They have a late check out of 12:00 noon. This was nice, so we did not feel rushed and could enjoy our breakfast buffet before heading back to the room to gather our things. The parking is underground (6’ height max), located just to the east of the hotel entrance. When you arrive, park on level P1, take the elevator up to the Mall Lobby, then follow the signs to the hotel to check in. Don’t forget to bring your parking permit to get it validated. This should take the mystery of where to go should the entrance drive be clogged with taxis and other cars. Overall we had a great stay and the Hotel Novotel more than met our expectations.

A beautiful attractive hotel from the outside, with (at least one) drab dated room.

THE GOOD: This hotel is in a great location of Toronto. Walking distance to fantastic restaurants, shopping and entertainment. The main lobby and lounges were bright clean and modern. The staff at the desk were helpful, friendly and welcoming. The cleaning staff were also very friendly and cheery. The bedding, pillows, linen and towels were fresh and clean. The bed was comfortable. Our room had a beautiful view overlooking North York from the 12th floor thanks to the floor-to-ceiling bowed glass wall.
THE BAD: The room was clean but drab and the furniture was very 80's showing its age. (The couch/loveseat was actually a small "mates bed" with a cushion on top which was horrible to sit on). The bathroom, shower/tub and fixtures were for the most part clean, however the vents and wall behind the bathroom door was dusty and greasy with no air flow. Caulking around the tub and floors were pulling away. Bathroom door was semi-private opaque panel providing a "silhouette" visual. There was no lock or clasp on the bathroom door. Each flush of the toilet brought a few tense moments as the bowl fills almost to the rim before draining commences, giving a panicky feeling of a potential overflow. The ventilation in the room was non existent regardless of how much we adjusted the hot/cold settings of the climate control. The carpeting felt a little tacky and there was a strong odour of clinical disinfectant. The bulky older CRT color television had very poor hazy cable reception on 30 out of 40 possible channels.
For the price we paid we were not expecting a palace; however this dated room was definately below our expectations compared to similar Novotel chains we have stayed in.

The two women at the front desk, Leyla & Cathy, stand out in terms of considered client service.

I was very much impresed with the front desk personnel who in my opinion really were the best in all respects and appreciated the fitness facilities as well.

We stayed for 1 night on September 19th. The room was dusty, dry and airless. All registers and lamps coated in dust. Towels were like sandpaper. Only 2 pillows on a king bed. Only a huge comforter, no sheet to throw back when you're being suffocated by it. Only one "arm chair" for 2 people - and it was hard as a rock. Poor television reception. No fan in the bathroom. No lock on the bathroom door. Front desk staff all answer the phones and keep you waiting without acknowledgement or apology. They won't let pizza come up after 10 - you have to go downstairs and get it. I'd stayed in far better hotels for the same price that were excellent. The only bright note to our stay was that all of the housekeeping staff were extremely helpful, cheerful and pleasant. As for the rest of these reviews $17.00 for parking with UNLIMITED in/out privileges is a steal. Quit complaining.

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your comments regarding your stay at the Novotel North York, Ontario. Exceptional service is what we strive like to be known for; therefore your feedback is extremely important as it helps us to continually improve and provides a memorable experience to our valued guests.

I am sorry that your experience did not fully meet your expectations. Please allow me to express my most sincere apologies. For future reference we do offer to make the beds with a top sheet and have noted your preference, as well all rooms have an additional blanket, sheets and pillows in the closet. Of course, our Housekeeping staff is always pleased to assist with any additional request that you may require or wish for your stay. It is also for the safety and security of all of our hotel guests that we do not allow delivery persons onto the guestroom floors and this feature is certainly not enforced to inconvenience our guests.
Our relationship with our guests is of paramount importance. We are hopeful that you will present us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future.

Sincerely,

Stayed there for 2 nights, quite rooms, comfy bed, clean sheets, nothing to complain about except the indoor parking space that costs 17 bucks per night.
