We stayed here while catching a show at the Toronto Center for the Arts, for which this hotel is only a short 10 minute walk. This hotel is a great location for this purpose, if not other things. It is close to the TTC subway and is just off of Yonge Street in North York. It is near the Empress Walk, a “small downtown” mall in North York that will give you a little shopping diversion if you so desire.
Our room was an upgraded King Executive Room on the upper floors. This upgrade was at minimal cost and seemed to guarantee me a modern room with a great view, for which it did. The room was clean and neat, with a King Bed, a flat screen TV, desk with executive chair, a pay as you play bar fridge that charges you automatically, alarm clock radio, hair dryer, coffee maker, mugs, glasses, etc. The bathroom was clean and modern with a large stand up shower only. We had a "special" that included free parking and a buffet breakfast (with eggs, sausages, bacon, potatoes, waffles, breads, fruit) etc. There was plenty of food and it was well worth the cost, so we did not have to hunt out a place to eat before checking out. They have a late check out of 12:00 noon. This was nice, so we did not feel rushed and could enjoy our breakfast buffet before heading back to the room to gather our things. The parking is underground (6’ height max), located just to the east of the hotel entrance. When you arrive, park on level P1, take the elevator up to the Mall Lobby, then follow the signs to the hotel to check in. Don’t forget to bring your parking permit to get it validated. This should take the mystery of where to go should the entrance drive be clogged with taxis and other cars. Overall we had a great stay and the Hotel Novotel more than met our expectations.
