We spent three nights at the Delta Hotel and had a discounted rate so I can't comment on the price. I can comment, however, on the fabulous beds which other recent travelors have also enjoyed. The beds, down comforters and huge fluffy pillows were the greatest !! The room itself was not remarkable. Not especially spacious, no view, and no mini-bar. The carpet is in dire need of replacing, but the room itself was very clean and the bathroom was large, clean and well equipped. I especially appreciated the grab bars in the shower. We were attending a wedding reception held at the Delta and the service provided was exceptional. Also food for the dinner reception was outstanding.(Apparently the food was the main reason that the bride and groom chose the Delta for their reception). The location of the Delta is another advantage, close to many tourist spots and restaurants.

“Loved The Beds!!!!!”

Delta Ottawa Hotel and Suites

29 Aug 2007

We were greeted warmly at the check-in desk with a very friendly smile - nice, as we'd been on the road for hours from Toronto and were tired and just wanted to get to our room and relax....

The first thing we noticed was a very inviting bed. (I had seen an earlier review complaining about the comfort of the matresses, so I was a little concerned.) However, I cannot tell you how comfortable the bed and our sleep was at this hotel. The bed almost enveloped you with "loving arms" when we layed down!!! And, it was very quiet - didn't hear a 'peep' all night.

The food was very good and the service from all the staff was excellent! A special thank you to a woman named Leah and her staff in the restaurant. They were all so helpful, kind and so professsional.

If we ever pass by this way again (any truly believe we will soon), we will be sure to stay at this hotel again. Thanks to all the staff at this hotel and we look forward to seeing you again!!

“A Nice Place to Stay”

My husband and I, along with our two teenagers, stayed at the Delta Hotel in Ottawa for one night. I found the staff very friendly. We were greeted with smiles at the reception and the staff manning the pool was friendly and polite. The rooms were comfortable and clean and we all slept extremely well. They have a nice pool and the slide, which is ideal for younger children, is situated in another room right next door. They also have a small room with tables, where young children can draw and play. The exercise room is small but complete. The hotel is situated very near the Parliament buildings and there are some restaurants all around. Street parking on the weekend is free. At night, this part of Ottawa is very quiet. If you want any excitement, you'll have to drive to the market area, a short drive from the hotel. All in all, it was a very pleasant place to spend the weekend.

Three of us stayed in a one bedroom suite at the hotel for a good price, I thought of $162 per night. We stayed over the Canada Day holiday for 3 nights.

The suite was nice and large, but I must say, it could have been cleaner. There were crumbs under the pullout bed and I wasn;t sure that the sheets had been changed from the previous guest! The bathroom had only one small light, was rather dark and was dated. The overall suite could have used a decorating overhaul. But...it was big and comfortable for 3, it had a balcony and it was a very quiet hotel. You couldn't hear the people in the other rooms around you at. all.

The restaurant in the hotel has excellent food for a reasonable price and the location is really close to Parliament Hill for all of the Canada Day festivities. The staff were also very pleasant.

Would we stay here again?? I am not sure. I would like to..but the room was not clean enough for me on our arrival and that grossed me out a bit. I think the Delta chain should update some of their suites. Next time, based on the reviews on this site, I will try Albert at Bay Suite Hotels.

“Please pick another hotel”

Delta Ottawa Hotel and Suites

Where do I start?
Was expecting (for the money) a quality hotel. We had stayed in Ottawa previously and were impressed by the look of the hotel from the outside. Boy, can looks be deceiving. From when I checked in, I took my place in line only to see desk staff run around and answer phones instead of helping people who actually showed up in person. When asked if there was an upgrade, they said they were full. When the people after us (who registered for an upgraded room) told staff that their room was not made up, they were told "No Problem, we'll give you another one".

When I got to my room, the view was great, if you like looking into peoples offices and a brick wall. Again, typical for a second class room in a second class hotel. Sleeping was next to impossible on what
I have to classify as the WORST matteresses in all my travels (I travel at least twice a year).

Even when the burnt out bulbs in the room were replaced, the lighting was terrible. You needed to wait till the sun came up to see if your were putting on two black socks, or a black and blue one.
The air conditioner/heater made a terrible rattling noise (which in fairness, they fixed, only after I lost a night's sleep). Don't bother thinking of unpacking. If you have a family of four, the drawer space is minimal, even though there is an empty space under the TV for a fridge (the fridge is in the kitchenette).

The water slide (one of the reasons we chose this hotel) is in a COMPLETELY different room than the pool! Not a big deal (you'd think) until you realize you and your kids have to leave the sauna-like pool, go into the cold pool lobby, across wet, slippery ceramic,
down stairs into another room where the water slide starts. Then when you are done with that, you have to go outside again and freeze before getting into the pool. The pool in this "Family Friendly" hotel has no real shallow end. If you have a child under 5 feet tall, be prepared to be holding them the whole time, because there were no lifejackets for kids that size.

When I went to discuss this with the Main lobby staff, there was a half hearted apology, but mostly a "this is why it is the way it is". I don't care why it is the way it is. Either fix it, or reduce
what you charge your guests so they don't expect what you can't provide.

On the plus side, the cleaning staff does a fantastic job. The room was one of the cleanest I've ever stayed in. Also, I had left a pair of shorts in the dryer on my floor and the person in "Lost and Found"
mailed them to me, no charge and within a couple of days. There is more, but you get the idea. I've stayed at other hotels in Ottawa and will choose one of them when I return. If you choose this hotel, good luck, I won't be seeing you there.
