I stayed at the Chimo for 13 nights. I was on a business/leisure trip to Ottawa. The reviews posted did have some truth to them, but the hotel's quality and service were fantastic.
I've been to several hotels worldwide on various continents and this hotel would definitely rank as above average.
The parking was free for this hotel, plus its proximity to a large shopping center did help. The rooms were always kept clean and the staff were very friendly and attentive.
I only had one group of school kids staying in on a school trip and they kept running and creating havoc on the floor. The hotel managment did send them security whenever I called and it did help to tone it down a bit. I guess you can't have complete control over 60 school kids out on a trip :)

I was bothered by the hotel's pool hours. They open at 4pm til 11 and thats not very convenient for me as the pool becomes crowded by then.

I did order room service. They are a bit overpriced, but the quality was very good and the speed of delivery was very fast.

Overall...I would definitely stay again at The Chimo when I come to Ottawa again.

We stayed for three nights. Our room was on the 8th floor with a view of the city in the distance. The bed was very comfortable and everything was clean and organized. The hotel is about 15 minutes from the city, but we knew that when we made reservations. No fee for parking at this hotel. We did not care for the Clancy's restaurant in this hotel.

This is definitely a last resort hotel, when you can’t find room anywhere else. Having stayed the weekend at the lovely Minto Suites in Downtown Ottawa I was extremely disappointed when I had to move to the Chimo, the hotel is very dated and lacks any personality. It is a taxi/ bus ride from all the attractions and although there is a shopping mall across the road the shops are poor and much better shopping can be found in Central Ottawa. The hotel does have a pool and fitness suite however the pool is not open in the morning so no use to people visiting on business.
My room was on the 3rd floor and outside the window were some very large air conditioning fans which made the room very noise when I phoned reception to asked be moved they said no one had ever complained before (surprising as they were so noisy) and the hotel was full so they couldn’t move me.
Ottawa has some really nice hotels in the central area and I would definitely recommend staying somewhere other than the Chimo!
