“Location, Location, Location”

The location of the Westin Ottawa is Great!!!!

We found the room to be clean, decently appointed and large enough for comfort. They call the beds heavenly here and while I wouldn't go that far they are very comfortable. The view of both Parliment and Rideau canal was impressive and the Byward Market area was less then thee blocks away. We valet the car at $24 a night and never asked for it over the three nights of our stay.

The Parliment, Byward Market, National Gallery, Notre Dame and the Mint were within a very easy walking distant.

A nice pool area and workout center (neither all that large) are in the hotel. The staff were professional and friendly.

If location and ease of movement mean anything to you, consider the Westin.

“Amazing location!”

Great location for a great price (booked thru hotwire for $89 a night)
Walking distance to the Byward market, the Rideau canal, and attached to the Rideau centre!
Parking was ridiculous, and I'm from Toronto! $40 a night or $25 if you park across the street! Crazy!
The beds were super comfy, room spacious and clean and staff polite. No complaints at all!
The hotel was a bit dated but still a 5 star in my books!

“great hotel deal”

my friend and I were in Ottawa, and we realised that we needed a place to stay, so she rang her boss, to find where their company's preffered hotel in Ottawa was? it was the 'Westin' and the Companys best rate was $250 (pppn) per person per night.
so my friend tried 'Hotwire', and gave them our preference ( a good hotel in downtown Ottawa) you will never guess what we got for $99 per person .....it was the WESTIN!!!!
WOW! lovely Hotel, so close to EVERYTHING! right beside the rideau canal! and the houses of parliament. and beside the old haunted jail!!!! which is now a hostel!!!!!
we loved it, however avoid the.. in room snacks!!!

Excellent location, right next to shopping/major sites. Restaurant is good for breakfast (a la carte or buffet).

“Pretty good”

We booked this hotel directly though their website, for just $109/night (skate promotion). I'd say the quality was excellent for this price - everything was very clean, and the staff were polite and helpful. We requested one of the top floors (the form on their website allows you to submit custom requests), and we got 16th, which had a good view. Hotel is situated about 300m away from the parliament, and some rooms get the views of the entire Parliament Hill.

Two cons - while each room has a huge, floor-to-ceiling window, there is no way to open it. It was fine for the winter, but I'd really like to be able to get some fresh air in the summer.
Another con was parking, which was not directly under hotel, but under a congress center, and we had to go though the shopping mall (Rideau Center) each time. It was a bit expensive too, $18 for 12 hours, $25 for 24 hours, or $35 valet w in/out privileges. Oh well, that's what you pay for parking your car in downtown Ottawa.
