“Under-rated downtown hotel”

The only hotel that had both June 30th and July 1st available on Canada Day weekend. Bit pricier than we had hoped for but much cheaper than other hotels. Check in was very quick. The room was impressive. Very much like an apartment, it had a bathroom, a living room, a kitchen, and a bedroom as a separate room. The kitchen was rather small but was very well equiped. It had all basic utenlcils, a can opener, plates, glasses, cup, a coffee maker with complimentary coffee and sugar, a fridge, a toaster over, a microwave, an electric stove top and dishwasher. It also had wine glasses, a wine cooler, and a cork screw.

Internet special is announced at $98 per night, but was not able to book 2 nights at that price. So I called front desk 3 times to get a hold of the booking agent, they said the 1st night is not available for 98 but will be at $129 and the 2nd one for $98, being at last minute for booking I chose to go on. They offered 2 bed or one bed for the two of us. I chose one bed, big mistake! I assume the one bed would have been at least queen, but was smaller than queen size & the mattress is not confortable too soft, perfect candidate for backaches. Outdoor and lobby are elegantly finished.
Our room is small, TV not facing the bed, and the toilet room is one of the smallest I ever seen in my whole life. 2 floor underground parking is optional $12 extra per day. Continental breakfast is typical of a 2-3 star hotel. A/C not working in hallway of 3rd floor and is very hot. The room was clean but not quite perfect, the themostat was previously set unnecessarily at 10c and room felt like a freezer when entering, smoke detector was hanging off the ceiling, the lamp was unplugged on the wall, the fridge filled with goodies had a defective lock..

Overall review . . . price reasonable, but had better places for same price. I would go back again ...

Stayed here for one night. Hotel is definately an old apartment building turned into this place. Hallways were EXTREMELY hot could barely breathe. Room was below average. Bathroom was extremely small - barely enough room to turn around in. When I showered in the morning the shower curtain was absolutely disgusting. The room is very plain with a small bar fridge sitting on the floor and a small kitchen area.....never touched the kitchen as this was just a place to stay for the night. Bedroom again plain. No deck to speak of but a small cement pad which had a load of cigarette butts all over it. Window in the bedroom had no screen and when I opened up the curtains the ledge had all the wallpaper peeling off and was extremely dirty. As I have neve been to Ottawa before I am not sure of the area we were in but we went for a walk for supper and sure did not seem like a good area.......as everyone was asking for money and not the best people around on the streets.
If I have my choice I would never stay here again. Just had a very plain feel to it and could not wait to fall asleep so to get up in the morning to leave.

“great hotel, but not very central”

I had a big room with a huge bed, kitchen (microwave, cooker, dishwasher, fridge), wardrobe space, decent bathroom. Really very good value for the money. It's a brisk 15-20 minutes walk to the main attractions. When I was there - they had noisey kids running up and down the corridors. The self-service breakfast was a bit embarrassing - I'd have expected something a bit more upmarket than plastic knives and forks and polystyrene plates. For the price though - I guess I can't complain. Walking along Rue Bank - even during the daytime - can be intimidating with the beggars. But actually - I didn't have any problems. The hotel's very similar to the Econo Lodge chain that's owned by the same company - just think bigger rooms and more facilities.

I just got back from Ottawa on business and stayed at the Bostonian simply because it was basically the only hotel available during the time of my stay. I was told that September is a VERY busy month. I would like to say this is DEFINITELY is not a 5 star. We are talking 3 star. The continental breakfast is a joke. A couple of cereal choices an juice. Styrofoam cups and bowls ooooooh! No milk left for the coffee. The room I had was very small but clean. must say the reason I would not rate this any higher than a three star is the lack of customer service. These people were downright rude. Sorry I am not from here I do require some assistance with directions. I felt like I was invading their space everytime I ask for a direction or simply to check out. I was a bit disappointed.
