We noted on our travels that the Water Tower Inn does considerable advertising however that portion of their budget should be used to improve a few little problems. The hotel is on appearance quite nice. We were not happy with a fair amount of noise from other rooms, the air conditioner did not work properly and the service in the pub was poor. We sat for 30 minutes waiting for service and finally left. The Caseys restaurant was however quite good. I would look elsewhere for accommodations on our next trip to Sault Ste Marie.

From the front desk greeting in the afternoon to our breakfast the next morning, we were met by friendly staff, and really enjoyed the many amenities available at this great facility.
We had a refreshing swim in the large pool, then relaxed in the hot tub, and topped the evening with a delicious steak dinner.
We would highly recommend this inn to both travellers AND locals alike.

Entering the room was disappointing thought I went threw a time warp and back to the 70's. Mismatch furniture, old small t.v. dusty lamp shade. dark dingy wallpaper. I obviously didn't get one of the renovated rooms.

Management response from jocelyn watt, Marketing Manager

We truly regret you found your stay at the Inn unsatisfactory. Construction has occasionally caused a disruption, but our guests have been pretty understanding. We are still in the midst of our $2M Newly Minted make-over of the Inn; 120 of our rooms are Newly Minted, and by the end of 2009 all 176 guest rooms and suites will be created equal. We have also recently opened our new Top-of-the-Inn rooms. These upscale rooms on our fifth floor feature King-size or Queen-size Snugglebeds® with luxury-count linens and cosy duvets. Each room has a refrigerator, Starbucks coffee brewer, 36-inch flatscreen TV, and iPod docking station. Our company goal is to Exceed Guest Expectations; we have sent you an email to address your concerns.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel and were not very impressed. It is definitely overpriced! The convenience of having the pool, hot tub, gift shop, two restaurants and a pub on site is nice, but if you don't have a lot of time to use those things, the room is definitely not worth the $122 "discount rate" we paid for one night.

I've just finished reading about the "renovated rooms" here on Trip Advisor... guess I should have asked for one, as our room was EXTREMELY small, with a 13" tv, and no microwave. I asked for a queen bed at check-in and we didn't realize until we went to bed (many hours after checking in, and had brought all our stuff in) that the bed was actually a double. Not a huge deal, but still.

I do have to mention that the front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. I forgot a few items (comb, hair ties) and they gave me some from their gift shop for free (they had a price tag on them). I appreciated that!

Overall, if you're just passing through and don't have a lot of time to enjoy everything, I'd say find another hotel to stay at. I assumed the rooms would be nice at $120+ a night, but it appeared that the cost was more for the convenience of the amenities than the actual room.

  • Liked — The pub and restaurant were good...
  • Disliked — The room. Was small, dated, damp and smelled musty. Room 138.

I was only passing by the city and stop there after reading the reviews. The hotel ensemble is nice but the room that I got was old and not that clean. I wasn't a bad place but for the price I expected something a little better and less used...
