The Algoma Water Tower Inn provides alot of services that other "chain" hotels would not. While staying there I could get a hair cut, go to the tanning bed, have dinner, work out, go for a swim and go to the outside jacuzzi with my coctail. They had room service available from the attaced "texas roadouse" That place can be fun on the weekends. It is important when visisting The Soo to find a place with alot to do indoors as it can me awfully cold outdoors. I even joined a curling league just down the road. The staff at the water towerinn are really great and they helped me with everything I asked for. They even took my bicycle in for repair while I was at work. I would suggest this as a place to stay for anyone who is sick of staying in budget chain hotels and is ready for something a little different.

Their run of the "mill" rooms are just that. Very small bathrooms, something you'd expect in a budget downtown hotel not a "resort for the price of a room" inn. Must admit they were spotless which to me is very important. The furniture is worn out. Opening and closing a drawer saved me a trip to the exercise room. The pool area is very nice but they don't have an "adults only" time like most other hotels. If you like swimming with the local kids while mom and dad have a cold one then you'll love it here. I went to front desk for some decaf coffee which they willingly handed to me for free. I happened to look at the best before date on it. Oct 2005. OK maybe they had some old stuff kicking around so I checked the reg coffee they left in the room. Nov 2006. I think Starbucks should stop letting them use their name. On the plus side, the staff was very friendly and helpful.

The Water Tower Inn is definitely over rated on the web. We recently stayed there when we planned our annual anniversary trip. The place was touted as "getting a resort for the price of a room". We were sorely disappointed in the amenities. The pool was very small and full of kids. I believe they sell memberships in the pool to the locals, so that may be why it was so crowded.

The bathroom was smaller than we have encountered on some of the cruise ships we have been on. Although very clean, it was just too small.

The funniest thing was the chocolate kiss they leave on your night stand. When we checked in there was only one kiss, and I laughingly told my husband we would have to share. When he saw one of the housekeeping staff in the hallway he asked why there was only one kiss on the nightstand since there were two people in the room. He was informed that since we only had one bed (king) in the room, there was only one kiss for the room!! With the prices they charge, I would think they could affford two chocolate kisses..

We were also disappointed in the buffet breakfast. We have had much better in the Hampton inns we have stayed in.

All in all it was a big disappointment. If we go again we will stay at one of the hotels located closer to the train station , water, etc.

Sault Ste Marie has some wonderful marketers promoting it, because what you see and read in the guide books is a bit different from how the city seems to tourists. The Water Tower Inn has been recently remodeled, but it was a disappointment. The bathroom was so small you couldn't sit on the toilet and close the door. The shower didn't stay hot for long, and the bathtub drain was clogged. The bathroom was impeccably clean but impossibly small. The linens on the bed weren't very comfortable, and I kept rolling toward the center of the tiny double bed all night. In all, it was an OK place to stay, but I wouldn't go back.

Rented honeymoon suite for a gift for my wife. Great room, great service, and loved the resturant. Really, really loved the outside hot tub. After a day of x-country skiing, the hot tub was very relaxing. The room price, was a little bit steep but resturant price was inline. Resturant food was great.
