We stayed at Prudhommes Inn on a recent spur-of-the-moment trip to Niagara Falls. We had some challenges finding it the first night because signage in Canada isn't that great. There is a HUGE parking lot, scarred with potholes and there were only 2 cars in it when we arrived. The photos that we saw of the hotel online showed a Day's Inn sign, but the hotel didn't have that sign or one that said Prudhommes Inn either. Between that and the general look of abandonment, we thought we were not at the right place. However, upon entering the building, we were greeted by VERY friendly and helpful staff and a nice looking lobby.
The hotel room was clean, but nothing fancy - exactly what we were expecting. The pool looked kind of nasty and the "workout facility" consisted of 3 stationary bikes on a piece of carpet by the pool (all the bikes appeared to be at least 15 years old and none of them were in working condition). The hot tub was great though and they have a very nice continental breakfast every morning (including a make-your-own-waffle station!).
It's only a 15 minute drive from the Falls, and right on Lake Ontario in the middle of wine country. There is a really lovely restaurant called The Lake House just down the street that the hotel staff recommended to us. It felt more relaxing to us to stay in that area than the hustle and bustle of Niagara.
Overall we felt the hotel was in line with the price we paid.
