We arrived to toronto ( I had booked the Royal York, Fairmont)
to learn that my travel agent had booked the wrong night.
There was absolutely NOTHING else in Toronto ( the concierge at the Fairmont was kind enough to phone everyone in the city)
because of some Boston Redsocks game here in town.
The Fairmont had to sadly turn us away but found us the last room in town at the Howard Johnsons in Yorkville.
I don't know what star rating this has but the hotel was disgusting. A one star at best.
Lets start with the Free breakfast which consisted of a muffin and tiny little coffee cups. Thats it!!
Then lets get to the room.
We had a king room which was huge, but everything was dirty, the bed was hard and the pillows were old foam.
The sheets were old, and crappy.
The bathroom was dingy, tiny and the towels were at least 5 years old, thin and threadbare.
The carpets were filthy needed to be restretched ( were wavy ) and should have been cleaned years ago. I mean drink spills everywhere.
The drapes didnt even cover the windows entirely and were dirty and patched with tape. The windows were filthy.
The hall ways were filthy. The whole place needs a total facelift. And they gouged us for 199 bucks for all this charm.
The Fairmont ( had my damn agent booked it right) was only 30 bucks more.
Anyway, avoid the Howard Johnson at all costs.
It is a total DUMP.
