Super 8... On July 16, nothing else was available in Charlottetown at a rate under 200$... We only went there to sleep and I was very impressed with the cleanliness. Good room size and the best = Tim Horton Cofee and muffins!!!
The receptionist was very nice, polite and efficient.
However, since it was the last room available, we were just besides the public restrooms and as someone else wrote, the walls were very thin and kids running in the corridor was disturbing (we also had the chance to be besides the garbage dumpers)!
I am a very difficult customer to please, I don't hesitate to complain when I consider not having enough for my money... I have made many cruises, went to some of the nicest hotels and I know what nice rooms can be...
Next time I go to PEI, I might just book there = great value for the price.

Travelling with the family - me, the wife, and 18 month and 5 yr old girls. This building is not very old, so everything was in close to excellent shape, and clean. Check in was fine, then the first oddity - no elevator - Yes, it is only 2 stories, but having to carry kids, suitcases, and kids accoutrements up the stairs was annoying.
They have a salt water, close to full size swimming pool - about 3 feet deep on one end and probably 9 feet on the other end. Also, there is a hot tub. It was great.
The building was quiet both nights, but when we returned to our room on Sat. around 5pm, we discovered that our room had not been made up. We had to call the front desk to get somebody up - annoying.
Also, free "High Speed" internet, but the wireless connection was an amazing 11 Mbps.
All in all, a quiet (there were a number of teams from the CDN junior track and field championships staying there as well), clean, stay.

new hotel ... but our room with 2 queen beds was the first room in the corridor next to front desk and our window opened out to the dumpsters in the back. we had to put up with the echoing noise from the reception area and deal with the flies in the room.

the kids liked the pool but, the restroom was filthy and soiled. when I called the front desk to complain, they couldn't send anyone because didn't have any cleaning staff in the afternoon.

I booked into another motel which was dirty and unacceptable.

I checked into the Super 8 and was thrilled to find it so clean.

the room was big, bright and very clean.

I strongly recommend Super 8 for a clean good nights sleep.

  • Liked — clean clean clean and did I tell you how clean it is?
  • Disliked — with lots of luggage it is awkward getting in and out but still worth the stay

Canada
10 Jul 2008 | Trip type: Family

We stayed here for two nights to celebrate Canada Day in the birthplace of confederation. When we arrived, I was slightly dismayed, thinking we were too far from the hub of activities, but it turn out to be less than 5 minutes to get to historic downtown Charlottetown, so that worry was quickly resolved.

The motel itself is quite clean; with it being newer, there are still very few signs of wear and tear in the establishment. The lobby was very nicely furnished, and the pool area was better than I expected (the saltwater pool temperature was just right for the kids to enjoy). A complimentary continental breakfast is served in a cafe area off the lobby... food is simple but good, but there never seemed to be enough tables for all the people wanting to eat (many chose to take their food to their rooms).

We had a basic room with 2 double beds. The room itself was rather small, would have suited having 1 king size bed in it much better, but then of course less people would be able to sleep there. The bathroom was a decent size, especially given the fact that the room was on the small side. Walls are a bit thin: we heard a lot of noise from the halls, but luckily we had a supply closet on one side of us, so there was no room-by-room noise coming through at our heads while sleeping (the room on the other side of us was somewhat muffled by our bathroom in between). For some reason, the bottom 2 drawers of the dresser in our room were sealed shut, so we weren't able to use them at all for storage, which could be a concern for some, depending on how many are traveling and how much room you need.

Hi-speed wireless internet was provided, but it was decidedly slow and unpredicatable. I had to call technical support every time I opened my laptop, as the connection kept dropping (even tech couldn't figure out the problem). The only place I continued to get a somewhat reasonable single was placing the laptop on top of the TV and standing off to the side – not at all practical when you have a lot of online work to do.

  • Liked — The pool.
  • Disliked — Cramped room, thin walls.
