We stayed at the Bonaparte as our first stop on our cross Canada trip a few weeks ago and after a 6 hour flight we received a great welcome.

The room was comfortable and the jacuzzi in the bathroom felt very luxurious ! Our room looked onto the gardens at the back of the Basilique Notre-Dame and it was less than 5 minutes walk to the Basilica itself.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, even printing out maps for us when we were asking for driving directions to the Oratory St Joseph. Parking was just across the street and although this was our first taste of valet parking and we were slightly nervous about leaving the rental car we left it all in the capable hands of the staff.

A particular highlight was the meal we ate in the hotels restaurant on the evening we arrived. As people who like good food and eat out regularly we were overwhelmed by how great this was. It was a little pricey but if you're happy to fork out then I'd suggest the Lobster Stew and Profiteroles - we're still talking about that meal now ! Breakfast consisted of a choice of continental breakfast and various cooked dishes e.g. omlettes, etc and was included in the price of the room.

Apart from anything else this hotel is in a great location in Old Montreal, you're literally seconds from a lot of bustling restaurants, bars and the hive of activity that is Place Jacques-Cartier.

Oh, and if you're a smoker like myself the small roof terrace provides a great view of Old Montreal whilst you're having a puff !

“Loved This Hotel, Amazing Staff, Great Room, Will Go Back Soon!!!”

First time traveling to Montreal, and we did it in Feb. never again, way to cold. We arrived really early at the Hotel Bonaparte, our room was not ready, but the front desk guy was nice enough to put us in a better room so we could sleep for a bit and then get breakfast. The breakfast here is great, it's not a cheesy buffet or anything. It's a simple, clean, sit down breakfast where you can choose from a few items. I loved the breakfast, it was great, we looked forward to it every morning! The room we had was clean, bright and very well kept. I couldn't find one thing i disliked about this hotel or my stay here. The staff was super friendly and helpfull, giving us insights on what to do, where to go, and how to make best of our short time in the city.

If you stay at this hotel make sure to meet Mr. Micheal Banks, the director of marketing, he's great and can definatly let you know whats good in the city.

thanks hotel bonaparte we will be back!

“Best Place to Stay in Montreal”

Auberge Bonaparte

In the times that I have visited Montreal, the times I've stayed at the Auberge Bonaparte have been the absolute best. It is located near the Palais des Congres and in the heart of Vieux Montreal. Its costs are quite reasonable compared to the large chain hotels, and it is by far the best hotel that I or my colleagues have enjoyed. Breakfast is included, and is fabulous. The rooms are a taste of Europe, and are scrupulously clean! The staff is nice and very helpful. This is a superb place to stay - I highly recommend it.

“Generally what we expected”

Auberge Bonaparte

My husband and I stayed one night for our 20th anniversary. There were no surprises based on all the feedback on this site. Our room was on the third floor with a view of the courtyard. I asked for this in hopes of a quiet room based on others comments, and it was. The room was very clean, with a nice and spacious bathroom. The rooms are rather simple not luxurious by any means. We had dinner on the premises, the food is good but not great. The service felt inconsistent and at times we were forgotten. My salmon came undercooked and when I asked to have it cooked more, it seemed to take far too long, at which point my husband was done his entree. Breakfast is included in the room rate, and was good. We would stay there again, but try some where else for dinner.

“Great hotel in beautiful Vieux Port, but a little loud on weekend nights”

Montreal is a great city and this is a really great hotel in the "Old Port". The hotel was really nice and the breakfast (included with the cost of the room) was soooo amazingly good! Have the french toast! In fact, the breakfast and the location of the hotel were my favorite parts. It's a 3 course breakfast consisting of fruit or yogurt first, then toast or croissant and finally your breakfast entree. As I already said, the french toast is the best I've ever had (and I'm not a french toast fan).

The old port is NOT in the center of the city, but it's just a short walk and metro ride away. The streets, churches and cobble stone streets of the old port were so beautiful and we loved going for walks every day even though we'd seen everything a ton of times.

The hotel was clean and the staff were very helpful and polite. I personally found the female staffers much warmer and the male staffer a bit cold, but still very polite.

The only thing that wasn't too great about this hotel was that there are a few popular bars next to the hotel (double edged sword!) and on weekend nights (Friday/Saturday) it can get pretty loud. Approximately from 11 to 3am you will hear very loud bar patrons walking the streets. One night I was continuously awakened by what sounded like a metal dumpster being pushed (without wheels) down the street, making this awful high pitched screeching. This noise was bad, but not the fault of the hotel.

*Restaurant suggestion - Holder, a steak house. Try the butterscotch dessert!
