Our group booked two rooms for two nights and found the entire experience to be very good. One couple took the room that required a short trek down the hall to the bathroom, but the bathroom was exclusive to that bedroom--therefore a minor inconvenience. Rooms were stylish and clean, beds comfortable, but it was the staff and the breakfasts that were unusually good. The front desk staff were uniformly cheery and informative--sincere and enthusiastic. Breakfast was outstanding and the servers were as good as the front desk people. Location was great, although parking was a trick. Obviously, that is the other side of the historic location coin. We will certainly return.

We have been her a few times over the last four or five years. It is a cute place with a great breakfast, but it does have some drawbacks. We noticed that it has become more and more beat up. The Ikea towels pillows are old and worn. The furniture is beat up. Our room did not seem as clean as in the past. The place has always been a bit noisy at night and in the morning. You can really hear the people on each side of you and above you or in the staircase, this can make it difficult to get a good night sleep. The folks at the desk are okay, not overally helpful, but they will answer your questions. They always seemed to busy to really have time to help. Our biggest problem now is the cost. At this time the US and Canadian dollars are about equal. On top of that, you have to pay $10 for a parking spot (if you can't find one on the street) and with the federal AND provincial taxes, you are looking at an extra ten to 15% in tax. This means with all of those fees a $129 a night stay can turn into a $150 or $160 stay. It is an okay place to go, but there are better values out there. Also, with the taxes and exchange rate the way it is (not to mention the climate), it is hard to justify going to Montreal. Try visiting NYC or Boston instead.

“3rd Visit A+ as usual”

Petite Auberge Les Bons Matins

Having stayed at Les Bons Matin on our last 3 visits to Montreal, the most recent being this past New Years for 3 nights, I can attest to the accuracy of their website photos and also to the warmth and charm. It is not run like a traditional B&B but like a small inn. The breakfasts are amazing, served in a cozy, casual bistro-like atmosphere with the morning sun streaming in. The minute you sit down you are served freshly squeezed orange juice in a stemmed glass and a choice of coffees/hot chocolate/tea. Your order for hot entree is taken which includes bacon, ham and/or sausage and eggs any style from omelets to eggs benedict. While you wait, you serve yourself from a charming sideboard and antique table from a choice of croissants, bagels, muffins, breads, cheese, fresh fruit salad, mini quiches, jams, yoghurt, cereal etc. in addition to being offered freshly made waffles and 2 kinds of french toast by staff circulating from table to table. It is true that Argyle Street itself is nothing special, (translates into quiet) but it is certainly not isolated. There is a Metro Stop (Lucien-L'Allier) steps away (less than half a short block)at the end of the street. This is the main subway stop for the Bell Centre. One of the nights we stayed was a game night and we didn't hear a thing. People exiting the Metro head north or south but not west along Argyle. And while you may not be able to walk to Vieux Montreal in 15 minutes you can surely get there in 15-20 minutes via the Metro. You can literally walk from the B&B to the Metro, travel 3 stops on the orange line, exit at Place-D'Armes, walk a couple of blocks south and you are there. I know this because we did it. We go to Vieux Montreal every visit. The Metro in Montreal is very clean and efficient and easy to figure out. And the best part...when you come back after a day of walking/shopping/whatever, the Metro is so close that you feel like you have been dropped off at your door. Another bonus is you are two short blocks south of Ste-Catherine at Crescent. If you have done any research you will know this is a great area for shopping and restaurants. If you want to shop some other areas travel a little further along the same Metro line to Berri-UQAM (University of Quebec at Montreal). Walking east will take you into the Village (got a great set of cheese knives at a tiny appliance shop) or walk north along St-Denis where there are lots of restaurants, small stores/boutiques for blocks.

My partner and two friends stayed here on our first visit to Montreal. I'll echo what others have said: lovely place, incredible breakfasts, and 1/2 block away from a metro stop. The neighborhood was quiet. Now for the quibbles: you don't get help bringing up your bags to your rooms, and this can include three flights of stairs. It is not accessible, so if you have mobility issues, this is not a good place. The staff, while friendly, weren't that helpful in giving suggestions for places to go; we had better luck relying on our guidebooks. Also, during the last night they let the guy who shovels their walks stay in the suite above us. He brought a friend to stay, and they were incredibly loud. I had to get up at 4:00 a.m. to tell them to be quiet. I later found out the friend had "personal problems" per the front desk. I hope this was a rare event, but wanted to alert others. I want to emphasize that these are quibbles, but for some travellers, important. We would go back!

“Great Little Gem”

I have lived in Montreal for 2 years so I would consider myself as someone who knows Montreal quite well. The location is great - right downtown on Rene Levesque and Guy, which is close to St Catherine for shopping and Crescent for nightlife. The breakfast is phenomenal! The
rooms are incredibly cute and the home-made cookies is a nice touch. The budget rooms' bathrooms are fairly tiny but go for the deluxe rooms or suite as it is still cheaper than a regular $200/night hotel. I can't wait to go there with a big group of people and renting
the apartments! It is absolutely great for the value. Montreal is a fairly safe city to walk around, even in the wee hours in the morning so there is no problem getting back to the hotel at night. I recommend
this to all of my friends when they ask me where they should stay in Montreal.
