The late October weather outside was miserable, windy rain and 34 degrees, but we got another warm welcome at L'Hotel du Vieux Quebec.
Since we had been there before, it was much easier to find on the twisted streets within the old walled section of town. Hint - unload your bags on the one-way street next to the hotel and then park in the underground City Hall lot across the street.
Once again, we traveled with our pooch - she loves the front desk staff who always give her a treat! Our room on the third floor overlooked the street and was in one of the dormers you see from the front view of the hotel. The ceilings sloped down a bit, but the view was nice and the street noise not objectionable.
If you are new to Quebec the guided walking tour is highly recommended; our guide was both knowledgeable and very personable. Old town is a fabulous spot to walk and sightsee. The ferry from Bas Ville across the river is a fun ride, especially at night when the cliffs are illuminated. If you do get tired walking, take the funiculaire back up to Haute Ville!
Also, take a short drive east of town to visit Montmorency Falls and the Cathedral of St. Anne du Beaupre. They are well worth the trip.
We love old Quebec - like going to France except you can drive there.
