The Sainte Anne was easy to find arriving from the station with the bus (stop on the place round the corner. If you arrive too late (after 11pm ?) you might have to give a call to a number quoted on the door. Be sure to have your mobile with battery with you ;-).
The location is really great - in the old upper town of Quebec close to the beautiful city hall and the Château Frontenac - that you will see from your room if you ask for a superior room with this specific view.
The rooms are nice, modern, with brick walls for some of them, which gives character to the room. The bed are comfortable , although the linens are mediocre.
The bathrooms are small but functional and modern. The towels though are awful: thin, originally white they turned grey with yellow and brown stains. In no other hotel I saw such towels. If they can't keep them white, then they should opt for darker coloured towels.
Another turn-off is the reception staff: you wonder if they can speak: no clear "bonjour/bonsoir" when you arrive or leave- which is noticeable in Quebec (City), where most people are friendly, welcoming and cheerful.

We stayed at the Hotel Saine-Anne from Oct 27 to Oct 31 of 2007. Everything about this hotel was perfect! It is located right in the middle of downtown in the Old City with Chateau Frontenac right across the street! It was SUPER clean, and staffed with friendly and very helpful people!! The hotel and rooms had a great mix of the original architecture with new modern touches. SUPER nice bathrooms and really comfortable beds, with huge windows...rooms were cleaned everyday.

The city itself was beautiful and there's so much to do and see! The tourism office is a few doors down from the hotel, and I suggest the walking city tour with Jaques, as well as the countryside tour. There is also a coffee shop/convenient store down the road that stays open late that we often walked to for coffee early in the morning and late at night. Tons of shopping, and great food too!!! So much history and beautiful scenery. We loved it! Would recommend the Hotel Sainte-Anne to anyone staying in the city!!

The Hotel was perfect. Perfectly furnished, perfectly serviced, perfect! The staff was very very helpful as was the staff from the restaurant located inside of the Hotel itself. The Hotel is located in the most perfect part of the old city and the Travel and Tours place is just a few doors down. The walking tour with Jacque was excellent for a basic history of the city and the Dupont Countryside tour was very nice. I suggest both to get a good feel of the city inside and out. We ate at a restaurant Le Bistro several times because it was fantastic, the service was great and the food was even better. I suggest breakfast. I will return to the St. Anne again for sure.

I searched this site and poured over reviews for the perfect hotel in Quebec City for my family to spend three nights/days to enjoy the early fall. I wanted an ideal location for my 8 and 10 year old to use as a home base (it can not get better than this). I wanted a comfortable bed for my husband (not too soft, not too hard, you know the drill) and the beds were just right! All four of us slept more soundly than at home. Finally, I wanted intimacy/authenticity with style. The minimalistic interior design/furnishings were perfect (and contrary to other reviews, I liked the carpet). I also need a room to be really clean and a bathroom to have a powerful shower. Check. The only thing that I would change is our room. We were in the back of the building (409) overlooking the interior atrium and while it was quiet, I would have preferred the interior stone walls and views i saw in other traveler's photos. The restaurant was superb, the hotel staff helpful (they booked us a car with directions, a room at the Hotel Tadoussac and a whale watching adventure). We traveled an hour by plane and felt like we were in an intimate Paris inn on the Isle St. Louis! BRAVO!
