We stayed at the Hotel 71 for 3 nights in June 2008 and found it comfortable, quiet and the staff friendly. The location was very good - close to the shops and restaurants of Old Quebec City, but tucked away on a quiet side street. The staff were very pleasant and the cafe next to the lobby provided tea, coffee and even specialty coffees at no extra charge. The room was modern, with the colour scheme being dark wood furnishings with white walls and bedding. (A bit minimalistic for my liking, though.) Robes were provided. The bathroom did not have a tub, but the shower was very pleasant with multiple shower heads. However, there were a few problems with the room - the hardwood flooring was starting to wear and had come off in a few places so had a few very sharp edges to it. Also, we were not provided with enough dry towels each day, so ended up drying ourselves with hand towels a few mornings. The major disappointment was the breakfast - very little variety and no hot items. Basically a continental, even though they told us it was more then that. However, they will make you a specialty coffee for breakfast as well. Also, there is no parking, so they take your car when you check in and park it at a lot down the road. You are charged $20 a day for this.
