Had our annual 'posh nosh' dinner at Brasteds this month and we voted it our best ever!
As a group of six couples who like to make an effort and dress up to go out, enjoy good food, fine wine and great company we have been regularly dining out for a number of years at the nicer restaurants in the area. As a collective we first went to Brasteds earlier in the year and had such a great time the group asked me to book to go back again for Xmas...and it did not disappoint.
From the moment we arrived we were welcomed and well looked after by all the staff, in particular Michael and Nick who run Brasteds exceptionally well.
We pre-ordered our starters and main courses a few days before and the food was fantastic. The beef was the most popular dish, particularly the beef tea served with it which was extremely well received. The service was excellent, as a table of 12 our food all arrived in good time and was very well presented, and it tasted as good as it looked and our glasses were kept well topped up. Portion sizes are generous but we managed to make room for delicious desserts, cheese & port followed then coffee with home made chocolates.
I have allergies and they accommodated me extremely well with gluten free bread and I even had a dairy free chocolate dessert.
This is a great place to come, whether it is as a couple or a group. It isn't cheap but you certainly get what you pay for - great food and excellent service. It is a special occasion restaurant and they change the menu every couple of months which means you can look forward to coming back for more.
As a couple we have now been a number of times and have never been disappointed and will be back on New Years Eve for their black tie event and are really looking forward to it.
Oh and the lodge is very chic and comfortable if you want to make it an extra special occasion and stay the night.
