We stayed at Shakespeare House for one night in February 2012. Whilst we cannot fault the accommodation, throughout our stay we were given the impression that we were an inconvenience to our hosts rather than welcome guests. Upon arrival it took the hosts a while to open the door for us, and whilst this was not the end of the world, we got the overwhelming impression that we were disturbing a private party, despite having arranged a mid-afternoon check-in time.
We were shown to a very modern and clean room which exceeded our expectations and we had a good nights sleep, however the following day at breakfast we couldn't shake the feeling that we were intruding upon the hosts. They were polite but quite cold and unwelcoming. For us at least, building a good rapport with the hosts of a guest-house is one of the highlights of staying in a B&B as opposed to a hotel.
The breakfast was good however one other slight disappointment was the lack of wi-fi as mobile coverage was not great in the area and we wanted to plan our next days activities.
Shakespeare House is an expensive B&B and although the quality of the rooms reflected this the service did not.
