I have decided to only review WONDERFUL places now as I feel the places that do not come up to my very high expectations - it's not really their fault & I do not wish to harm their future patronage.
We booked to stay at Little Barwick House as we were racing at Wincanton (delightful Provincial Racecourse). It's officially a 'Restaurant with rooms' We arrived around 1600 and were greeted by Emma (Wife of Chef Tim). After being shown to our beautifully appointed room we were offers tea in the Sitting Room - next to the open fire. Tea arrived with homemade cake & shortbread (YUM) all made on the premises & we went off for a short rest before Dinner. Pre Dinner drinks and the most delicious canapés - tiny smoked haddock tartlets, a small tomato with garlic & pesto served on a delicious crouton, olives & an assortment of nuts - I knew Dinner was going to be awesome. AWESOME it was. Scallops on a puree of Jerusalem artichokes, Fillet of beef with red wine Jus, Puddings to die for and cheeses as well - ALL served at the right temperature. Coffee and petits four if you could manage them. Utterly brilliant, fantastic, great value for your £££ & Emma is a most wonderful front of house - superb attention to detail - TIm a Master in the Kitchen - well what are you waiting for ??? A truly 'spoiling' experience !!
