My husband & I and 4 friends have just stayed at Villa De Ghaap Guesthouse in Douglas, en route to & from Mabuasheube in Botswana. The guesthouse is conveniently situated just as you enter Douglas from both Kimberley & Prieska.
We highly recommend this guesthouse to anyone finding themselves in the area where the Vaal & Orange Rivers meet & where the first South African diamond was mined.Pannie & Hanlie are great hosts that go the extra mile for their clients......Pannie even took us to see the confluence of the rivers and the diamond monument ,as well as accompanying my husband to the dentist for an emergency appointment & to the auto-electrician for running repairs on our vehicle!Nothing is too much trouble.
The guesthouse ,which is spoltlessly clean, is luxuriously decorated and our room was well appointed with a full bathroom( bath & shower), tea/coffee facilities, TV and attention to small detail is very evident.
Next door is an a la carte restaurant ,owned by Pannie & Hanlie, which serves a great variety of meals, some local, and supplemented by a good wine menu. The carrot cake, Hanlie's own recipe, is the best in South Africa! The staff are well trained & the service is very friendly and attentive.
Mention must be made of Boet the Jack Russell who has a character bigger than himself!
Thank you Pannie & Hanlie for a great stay at your guesthouse. We were made to feel as if we were at home from the moment that we arrived. We were so pleased that we had chosen to stay an extra night!
