My family and I stayed at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport as an end to our British Columbia vacation, and the service was fantastic, right from curbside to checkout.
At the time of our vacation, my wife had a broken ankle and we were travelling with two small children (3 yrs old and a 4 month old). We arrived at the hotel and the Bell service was there right away helping to unload the rental vehicle. One of the staff noticed my wife hobbling around on crutches and retrieved a wheel chair from inside. Very nice...they then helped my wife and children into the hotel while I went to return the rental car.
The rooms at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport are a plane spotters wet dream!!! If you are a plane nut like I am, you HAVE to stay here at least once in your life!!!! Every room has a view, and the quality of the soundproofing is remarkable. If you are worried about noise, don't be. They could shoot a million cannon off right outside your room and you won't hear a sound.
The bathroom in our room (Fairmont Room) was unbelievable. Double sink, soaker jetted bathtub, a private water closet and a HUGE shower area. There is a passthrough above the tub so that you can enjoy a nice soak, while watching your favorite TV show, or have a nice conversation with your companion. (or in our case, keep an eye on the kid while she's having a bath!) The bathroom was FANTASTIC!
The service at checkout was just as good as at check-in. The hotel had notified our Airline of my wife's gimpy condition and they had a golf cart waiting to wisk her, our luggage and the 3 year old to the check in counter (the hotel is at gate 249 or something, we were travelling on Westjet, gates 3-20) while I pushed the stroller with the 4 month old, it was a nice touch that in my opinion they didn't have to do.
If you are travelling in or out of Vancouver I would recommend you stay at least one night at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport.
