We stayed with our 3 children at the Canmore Inn and Suites this spring and had a wonderful time! The kids loved the waterslides, and although the pool is chilly, it was a great time whenever we went to the pool! We took our bikes for in-town transportation, and they provided a safe room for our bikes to be stored in. It worked great, as we could access them easily right near the door whenever we wanted to, and never had to worry about them. We were there for our anniversary, and at my parents request, there was a fruit and chocolate basket awaiting our check-in. As it turns out, they don't actually offer these baskets, so the young manager went out and bought everything himself and put it all together in a lovely basket complete with a card! We stayed in a room facing the main road so the trains didn't bother us, although we have stayed in the rear rooms of other hotels, and with the windows closed, the train noise is minimal. We stayed in a Standard Room (2 queens) and requested a cot, but we sent the cot back because there wasn't enough room for it. The kids all shared, as the youngest is 3 so it worked ok, but I would book a suite next time for the extra space. The room did have a fridge and microwave, which was handy. The hotel was overall very clean, the staff very friendly and accomodating, and the pool area clean and well maintained. We enjoyed the continental breakfast each morning. We thouroughly enjoyed our stay, and would stay there again!

We stayed there in Sept 2005. The room was very friendly (furniture, decoration, wallcolor) and also clean. Although we didn't book any breakfast it seems to be usual there to offer an nice continental breakfirst to all guests, which was very tasty. Therefore we started the day in a very good modd and full stomache.
However, we couldn's sleep very well in the night, because of a lot of train noise. The rail tracks are just behind the hotel and the canadian trains with a lot of waggons made an neverending noise during the night.
General advice for Canmore: It's a better and quieter choise to stay in an hotel on the other side of Bow Valley Trail (which is the main road in Canmore) !!!

The hotel was good for a short stay, room clean and functional, if a little dark and staff helpful. Try and ask for a room at the front of the hotel as the back rooms overlook the railway line. The hotel was a short walk to the main restaurants/bars in Canmore. Standard range of food on offer in the continental breakfast included in the hotel price. The hot tub was nice, but the pool a bit cold for my liking and the water-slide seemed to be switched off most of the time.

The prices in Canmore are much cheaper (hotels and restaurants) so I would recommend staying in this area as an alternative to Banff which is a bit overpriced.

I chose Canmore Inn because of the low rates, the central location and because it was not a cookie cutter hotel chain.
I was surprised to find that it was actually a holiday inn express
that specializes in tourists groups arriving by bus.
Four to six buses arrived nightly creating a large amount of noise and confuison. It felt like a rowdy college dorm.
The staff worked hard but their main focus was to turn over the beds for the next busload. The sheets were never changed the 5 nights I was there and on one day they never ever came to empty the trash or provide clean towels, cups, toilet paper.
There were lines for everything.
If you want a drive through hotel this is it. If you want to feel like a guest look someplace else.
