When we booked the Mountain View Inn for only $69 a night, we were worried about what kind of hotel this might be, since most lodging in the area is much more expensive. Nevertheless, we were pleasantly surprised and pleased with our stay. The property is relatively new and very clean. The service was prompt and friendly. Our room, although plain and not highly decorated, was a good size, very clean, and had a very comfortable bed. There are few amenities offered, but who cares for this price?! We would certainly recommend the Mountain View Inn and would stay there again ourselves. It is ideal for people who are going to the mountains to enjoy the great outdoors rather than sit inside their hotel room for the entire vacation.

I picked this motel because of its low room rate (including the AAA discount). I was not expecting much, but just a room to spend the night since I was going to be at Banff NP most of the time.

I could not get a confirmed non-smoking room when I made the reservation. We were given a room which was marked non-smoking, but had the distinct smell of a previous smoking room painted over. We asked the front desk to give us a different one and they accomodated promptly though the motel was sold out for the Jul1st-4th weekend (May be I should start asking for a 'non-smoked' room rather than non-smoking). The room was big, had a working microwave and a refridgerator and a nice view to the lawn behind. The location is very near to downtown (10mins walk). Canmore has quite a few good restaurants and most of them are within walking distance from this hotel. The only negative thing I can pick on is, thin walls. The loud neighbor's were very audible though we did not hear any traffic or outside noise.

For a sub-$100 room (on a busy weekend), this hotel exceeded my expecations... enough to motivate me to write this review.

I have recently returned from my trip to Canmore. Every year I visit Banff National Park along with my family and stay in a motel at Canmore. We have so many bad experiences in the past. We were apprehensive but we decided to try a new motel - Mountain View Inn. To our pleasant surprise we found it to be an excellent place to stay. we really enjoyed our stay at this motel:

1. Motel staff is extremely courteous
2. Rooms are tastefuly decorated with new high quality furniture
3. Room size fairly large with very high sealings
4. Room amenities such as AC and TV/cable working very well
5. Excellent view from the window. In the morning you can enjoy sunrise and mountain glittering with golden yellow lights
6. Rooms very peaceful
7. Rates very reasonable so that you get good return for your money.

In future I will love to come back and stay at this motel.

I had made reservations in May for 2 days in July to stay at the Mountain View Inn. I called and cancelled my reservations in May but received a bill from them on my VISA as a no show. When I called again to ask why they billed me they say that they didn't have a record of the cancellation. Unfortunately when I originally called I didn't take the name of the person I spoke with nor did they give me any kind of cancellation number.

So be very careful should anyone make a reservation at this place and cancel as they have poor record keeping and so end up fraudently billing people.
