“Pleasant Surprise”

Banff Boundary Lodge

8 Jun 2008

We chose the Banff Boundary Lodge (BBL) at the last minute for a long weekend. We wanted a place that was pet friendly and roomy enough to accommodate 6 people. We were pleasantly surprised by the BBL.

We had the 2-bedroom deluxe suite with a pull out couch and 1.5 baths. The master bedroom was spacious and the second bedroom was also a good size. We never felt cramped.

The unit itself was very clean (highest priority for me). All necessity's for cooking (pots, pans, plates, cutlery) and cleaning (dish and dishwasher detergent, soap) were provided and cleaners could be refilled at the main office if necessary. The BBQs are shared but we never encountered an issue with having to wait for the BBQ. Items such as BBQ utensils and baking sheets could be obtained from the office if necessary. Staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming.

The sheets and towels seemed fairly new and were in good condition. The fireplace was nice, however we didn't use it given the heat. The unit was fairly warm in the evenings since it faced the setting sun. Fans in the bedrooms were welcome relief. Unfortunately, the hot tub was not working which would have been nice at the end of the day.

The BBL is located in the Hamlet of Harvie Heights, minutes from Canmore. It was a nice little walk around the community in the evenings. It is 22 KM from the town of Banff. We drove to Banff and surrounding areas a number of times and didn't mind the distance as the drive through the mountains was beautiful.

The area can be noisy with the highway and train tracks close by. However, this would be the same for most of the hotels in Canmore.

Overall, the suite was great value for the money.

This property, located on the western edge of Canmore and just outside the park gate for Banff National Park, is a great find. First, you can't beat the location. It's a quick hop, skip and a jump into the town of Canmore, and a short drive to Banff. Many of the suites have a fantastic view of the mountains. If you prefer a more laid-back stay, this is the place to go, as it avoids the bustling tourism of Banff townsite.
Each suite has it's own full kitchen, a great bonus for those who'd prefer to spend their money on things besides dining out. The one we stayed in had two good-sized bedrooms and two bathrooms, perfect for four people. The fireplace was a nice touch.
The suite itself was clean and in good shape, and there was plenty of space for 4 people to hang out. As an added bonus, the property has a hot tub and conference space. The only drawback was the limited parking.
We found the staff friendly and helpful. The price was unbeatable for a 2-bed, 2-bath condo with full kitchen, especially when considering the prices of a hotel room in Banff.
Would definitely stay here again, and highly recommend it to others.

“Horrible - stay away”

Banff Boundary Lodge

27 Dec 2007

the kettle didn't work , the sofa bed was broken, they wouldn't give us extra towels and bedding, the information in the hotel directory was wrong, and guest services told us we were being difficult becasue I asked for an extra pillow.

What a gong show...

“What a find!”

We stayed one night here on our way down the Jasper/Banff National Park. We hadn't prebooked anything due to a previous mix up and were struggling to find somewhere quiet and nice. We looked at Banff which currenly has the entire town centre main road up with noisy construction, and is fully of tourists and gift shops. We went to the Upper Hot Springs which was lovely, but didn't want to stay in the town. We drove on to Canmore which is a fairly new town with super shops and a great Safeway supermarket, and a great deal of new build apartments. We drove around for quiet a while looking at the motels along the back of the town (adjacent to the railway) and then discovered the Banff Boundary Lodge at Harvey Heights. We had a great deal (value season) which my husband booked whilst I stayed in the car. I was expecting a hotel room, but we had a duplex - huge living room with gas/log fire, huge TV, kitchen area, washing machine, dining area, full cooker + microwave, and downstairs loo, then upstairs a queen size bedroom and double bedroom and full bathroom. What fantastic value for money and right on the highway (but very quiet). We would highly recommend this place. We didn't eat in Canmore as we like to cook ourselves, but there are plenty of places to eat. We are only sorry we missed the Oh Canada Eh! show as it has great reviews, but it was closing the weekend we were there.

“A Vacation Home Experience”

Banff Boundary Lodge

Banff Boundary Lodge is a true vacation home experience!! When you rent your apartment syle condo for the stay it is yours. You don't have to worry about maid service knocking on your door every morning. Stay in your bed clothes and relax for a change.

If you are expecting a 5 star experience stay elsewhere. However, for a 3 star experience...that is exactly what you recieve and more!! This is very much a self serve accommodation and rightfully so. If you want to spend an extra $100 a night somewhere else, you will recieve free maid service and a front desk that will be able to accommodate your every request.

This is a little boutique resort with a nice, clean and friendly atmosphere. Exactly what the doctor ordered. I was a bit confused and concerned once I read some of the trip advisor reviews, however, I feel that we recieved exactly what we paid for and a bit more. If you are going to be cheap and what the Ritz...stay at home or spend the $300-500 a night at a luxury hotel. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful.

I would recommend this resort for anyone who wants the feel of home away from home. Was perfect for my family and we can't wait to make our way back to Canmore next year.

Thanks again to all the staff at Banff Boundary Lodge!!
