We stayed 2 nights there on June 26 and 27. Friendly staffs and the complimentary breakfast every morning was great. We are happy with our stay there since we booked through Expedia for US$68.30 per night including taxes and fees. From one of the previous reviews, we asked for a room at the front of the hotel on second floor. Although we still heard the sound of train but not that clear/loud and only once during the night.

Would recommend this place for the great rate and good lodging!

My husband and I stayed at the Bear Country Lodge over the Easter weekend in 2005. Our room was very comfortable and clean however the train track was located approximately 100 feet from our window. The rumble of the passing trains was very loud as it came through up to 5 times in the night, every night. We were told by the staff to shut the window and turn on the fan to stifle the noise. If you want a restful sleep - this is not the place to stay. Possibly a room on the front of the hotel would be quieter.

We stayed at the Bear Country Lodge in October. The rooms are very comfortable and the staff are friendly. There are a number of good restaurants nearby. The hotel is in walking distance of downtown shopping and hiking trails.
We visit Canmore and Banff area quite often. We preferr to stay in Canmore.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights during late September 2004.

Due to what we considered the ridiculously high rates in Banff, we decided to use Canmore as our base for this area.

We found the hotel to be quite acceptable in terms of room cleanliness and comfort. There is ample parking around the entire property and there are many restuarants in the near area. The staff were quite friendly.

They do offer a breakfast from 7:30 to 9:30, although on the day of our check out, by the time we left at 8:00 there was still no breakfast, or even staff around to check us out!! Along with another guest, we had to leave our room keys on the reception counter and just leave.

Otherwise, this is a pretty standard travellers hotel and we would probably stay here if the price was right, although we would prefer staff and advertised breakfast was available.
