My husband and I stayed at the Tete Jaune Lodge for one night while traveling to Jasper National Park. The lodge is located off the highway and since there are few places to stay in this part of the country, it was convenient. The lodge is located close to Mount Robson Park and Rearguard Falls. This is a cute motel with nice, fairly large and clean rooms. We enjoyed our stay here. It is so convenient to be able to drive right up to a room. Although we checked in late afternoon, our room was not ready and we had to wait for him to finish cleaning it which was okay with us. The property presents as rather laid back with a casual atmosphere. The scenery is lovely as the motel is near the Frazier River with outstanding views of the Canadian Rockies.

The restaurant on the property is another story. Located right near the river in a historic trapper's cabin, it is very cozy and atmospheric inside. A unique place to eat and not really a restaurant; a bit of a mystery as far as the role of this place. It seemed to exist to provide meals for people there on group outdoor excursions and not for the typical tourist or passerby to the area. The hours it opened were questionable, menus were not available and the one dinner we had was served "buffet" style and consisted of pizza, salad and soup that we served ourselves. At the end of the meal we even put our own dishes in the bucket to be cleaned. Two couples who I believed were visiting from Europe asked the chef/proprieter what kind of soup was in the crockpot and she said, "vegetable, potatoes, whatever everyone didn't eat from the week before. The food was good, but it was a little like eating at someone's house and an amusing experience, one we did not have at any other eating establishment while on our trip through the Canadian Rockies. I guess a continental breakfast was included in the room although this was somewhat vague, especially the hours it was available. There were a few things out when I went the next morning and the chef commented that there were some breakfast items; i.e. eggs, and pancakes that a "group" she had prepared for had not eaten and were left for others.

So, in closing I would say a good stopping off place for the night if you are in the area.

We much enjoyed the review of Tete Jaune Lodge and restaurant'. We would like to clarify any misconceptions about the facility. We are a Motel, RV Park, Campground & Backpackers Hostel. We do have a 1922 Log Cabin Cafe that is available for pre-booked catered functions & groups that are staying at the Lodge. Last year the Cafe catered for BC Forestry for 40 + firefighters for the month of August and for a 15+ Horse-Back Riding Clinic that was held in September for 3 weeks. All meals are served casual camp (Ranch) style Buffet at a very reasonable rate. Guest participation in clean-up is part of that service package. Continental Breakfast is not part of the Tete Jaune Lodge service - the cafe is run independantly from the Lodge. When a group is booked in - the caterer will often offer economical buffet meals (after the main booked group is done) to Lodge Guests. The same applies to Breakfast and even complimentary breakfasts are often offered to Lodge guests, curtesy of the catering company. No a la carte service is available - the license is for buffet catering only. Pre-booked Meal plans/catering is available for groups of 10 or more for all types of functions. The Hostel has a full kitchen/ common area/ dining room with all utensils & spices for Hostel guests only. Thank-you
