Location not obvious on website. We thought it was in a rural setting. Too many rules not usually experienced and obviously displayed in our experience. Breakfast boring and we were told to report at 8:00 am due to work schedule of one owner even though the 'rules' state 7:30-8:30. 3 flights of steep stairs to lug suitcases up to the room. Not an easy task.for most people, other than the young and strong. No shoes allowed in the house. Slippers given were too large and felt rather slippery on the floor and stairs. We both felt that we were there to accommodate them and not the other way around. Our vacation time is limited. We wanted a more user friendly environment.House is beautiful and decor is 'House Beautiful.' In a nutshell, we would not return. R&M Brown

We strongly disagree with most of this review which is a distortion of the facts. Our address and upscale location is shown on our home web page, and also our map which is sent along with each reservation -anyone can Google our location. Our location offers unparalleled natural beauty, with dramatic ocean fjord and towering craggy snow capped mountain views.

We do not tell our guests to report for breakfast! We simply asked this woman if we could serve breakfast for them at 8.00 am because of a hospital work schedule change, and she immediately answered back it would have to be 8.30 am. Our spectacular chalet has two main floors (which is obvious from the photos on our website) It has two easy flights of staircases with each tread height being only 7 3/4 inches high and built to code, but it appears they also counted the few steps from the driveway as another flight.
There are slippers provided in each bedroom and also many hand knitted slippers of various sizes to choose at our entrance vestibule – for sanitary and noise reasons we do not allow shoes, hiking boots and ski boots worn inside the chalet.
Our few common sense rules are posted on our online reservation form and also on our reservation confirmation form sent to each guest, and should be no surprise to anyone. I suppose they also have problems with car rental, airline and credit card rules – and these are extensive! She told us she was a take charge person and wonder how she managed without rules, even in her own home.
Our breakfast table always has a variety of home made breads, muffins, jams, fruit parfait, juices, and our special coffee blends and teas etc., which are all on the table before the main breakfast is served. The first morning they were served home made multigrain waffles with fresh strawberries from our garden, whipped cream, along with Canadian maple syrup, which apparently was a favourite dish of the husband, but she hardly touched her breakfast.
The following morning her husband who spoke little showed up alone for breakfast – we were planning an omelette for them but to our surprise he advised us that he did not eat eggs or meat, and he chose to have oatmeal cereal, which he ate alone.
The number one rule stated on our online reservation form states – “Nu-Salya is true to the original concept of a Bed & Breakfast home; we share our Chalet with you.”
A B&B experience is simply not for everyone and some should chose staying at a hotel with elevators and servant staff, or perhaps a motel. Our coastal community offers mountain, river and ocean recreation, and perhaps offers the world's greatest diversity of Outdoor Recreation Adventures, not including our historic sites, but they didn’t seem interested.
We do get along with most of our guests and usually have lots of laughs, however with a few we do encounter rudeness, rigid and unpleasant personalities, demeaning attitudes, arrogant guests disrespecting B&B rules and the list goes on, and these are some of the reasons why most small B&B operations close down within 5 years of operation – this is our 12th year.
Their review states the house and decor is beautiful yet only awarded 3 out of 5 stars in that category – they are tough markers!
Thankfully their opinion of us does not reflect the majority of others :)
