This is a great hotel for a family of 5 or more. We booked a room with 3 double beds and were amazed at the large size of the room-not cramped at all.
There is a small kitchen area with bar fridge, sink, coffee maker, and microwave.
The bathroom was immaculate as was the entire hotel.
The pool slide was fun for all my children, ages 16-10 and we had the pool to ourselves in the morning.
There is a small computer room with access to the internet for $10.00Cdn per hour.
The attached restaurant was the usual overpriced, franchise meals and should be skipped unless you are in a hurry and don't wish to drive to another restaurant.
Attached to the parking lot is a Tim Hortons and across the street is a Wendy's. Down the street was a pita style restaurant although we did not go there. Otherwise there is nothing in the close vacinity as this is a commercial and industrial area.(gas station next door). Despite the nature of the area it was very quiet at night.

In thje lobby there was a 24/7 supply of freshly brewed coffee and at least 10 different teas. My children liked making hot chocolates with the powder and hot water dispenser provided. In the morning there is a selection of cinnamon buns, and muffins and in the evening there is a cookie jar filled with large homemade cookies. At all times there were apples provided which added a nice healthy snack to our days.

The front desk staff were efficient and nice and the manager came out of her office when we were checking out to inquire about our stay. (no complaints - nothing lacking in our opinion)

We loved the location for an overnight stay. We came into Calgary airport late at night but the drive to the hotel was easy.
We were not interested in travelling into Calgary itself so we saved quite a bit of time by not having to locate a hotel at nighttime in a large city. The next day we travelled to Drumheller and did not have to contend with any traffic as the highway route to Drumheller was a three minute drive from the hotel.

Although this undoubtedly is a great hotel, we would have chosen to stay closer to the airport if we had thought twice about it. The traffic back to Calgary was quite heavy and it took us half an hour to get to the centre. Two weeks earlier, we stayed quite close to the airport when arriving in Calgary, the hotel was equally nice and the we spent a lot less time driving to the centre of Calgary.

We were looking for good value during the Stampede and decided to stay outside Calgary. We loved the Ramada - just a quick 25 minute drive door to door. The pool and waterslide were awesome...so clean!! We usually had the whole place to ourselves!
The staff was great...fruit and muffins/sweet buns in the morning and cookies in the cookie jar! My kids were in heaven! The rooms were a great size and Tim Horton's right next door for a morning coffee!

The Ramada chain is not somewhere I'd usually stay with my family (I've stayed in some that were horrible).
What a pleasant surprise this particular location was.
The room (almost apartment-size) was very clean and modern.
Considering the fact that I can't get my Timbits and chili in Texas,
an added bonus was the Tim Horton's right out the front door (ok, in the parking lot next to the hotel).
My family enjoyed the pool and waterslide, as well.
Would DEFINITELY stay here again.

  • Disliked — Located too close to a lumber yard/building supply store

Wow... what a pleasant stay. When I first went to Calgary there was a hotel shortage so I stayed in a Bed and Breakfast for 3 days, then I went to the first suite hotel we could find near downtown (5 Calgary). After being horribly disappointed there (see review), I found this place.

What's great about it?

- My suite had a kitchen that looked like it had never been used -- and YES, it is a full kitchen with stove, oven, microwave oven, fridge with freezer and dishwasher. A fairly good selection of cutlery, dishes and pots and pans as well (good for a hotel).

- The bed, chesterfields, and chairs were comfortable; the TVs well placed and had many channels.

- The bathroom was perfectly clean and well appointed. The soaps and shampoo are actually useable and, in fact, good! Wow!

- Housekeeping was superb.

- Great pool, hot tub and superb Waterslide! Great for families (though I enjoyed it as a sole traveller as well).

Couple of "gotchas":

- Attached restaurant is not that great. Instead, drive over to the West side of Airdrie and go to the restaurant "Our Flames".

- Fireplace is fake (electric). Nice to look at if you don't focus on it too much, and it has a built-in heater/fan to provide a bit of "fireplace comfort".

Overall:

Stay in this hotel even if you want a suite and need to be close to downtown Calgary, NE Calgary or the airport. Oh yeah, it was really inexpensive as well!

  • Liked — Great Kitchen Suite
  • Disliked — Attached Restaurant is sub-par
  • Any tips/secrets for future travellers? — It's worth the few minutes travel up the highway
