We stayed here with our two kids for 2 nights in August as part of a fortnight in the rockies.
The location is undoubtedly beautiful - but beware, the idyllic pictures hide the hordes of day tourists and tour buses that arrive at the end of the bridge each day. This is no remote getaway in summer - it was pretty crowded while we were there!
Parking - you can't park overnight close to the hotel but the shuttle bus was efficient so it's no big deal. During the day you can park close to the hotel - assuming you can get a space between the tour buses and RVs that is.
Check In - despite having email confirmation the hotel had no record of our reservation and took a long time to sort it out. Reception was extremely busy with phones ringing everywhere and only one, not very friendly or helpful individual on the desk. There was no sign of management staff anywhere. It was a poor first impression.
Room - the rooms are very dark and tired in decor. The arrangement is two rooms in each chalet bungalow. They are extremely small if you are trying to squeeze 4 into a two queen bedded room ( your only option with kids!). There is no air con so they are stuffy in summer. Very few have a clear view of the lake so don't expect one!
Meals - we didin't fancy the restaurant as it was too formal so went for a bar meal. Beware! This is a very large area and when we were there only two staff were on to cover both meals and the bar! We eventually got some food ( which was fine) but gave up on getting some wine after an hour as we had finished our meal and it still hadn't arrived!. Also - wine prices are on the rip off side of expensive in my view. The first two bottles of red we ordered were sold out - no doubt because they were the only ones on the menu coming in at under 60 dollars! Later we tried to get a drink at the bar, but gave up waiting and then also couldn't get a drink at the Cilantro Bistro as they told us they only serve drinks with meals.....a sober evening indeed! Next day we didn't bother and instead ate at the Truffle Pigs in Field - an excellent bistro and great value.
Check Out - same unfriendly response at the desk - not even a "how was your stay".
I would think carefully about what kind of person you are before staying here. This hotel struck me as being very much for townies who like to go on holiday somewhere with a nice view - rather than for people who are into outdoor activities while on holiday. It is noticeable that unlike many hotels in this area they have no trail guides or maps available at the desk.
Overall sevice lets the place down and value for money is low in comparison to other places we stayed. I wouldn't go back.
