My friend and I stayed for one night at this hotel in a twin room, where smoking was permitted. Our room was small and it felt really cramped, but it was clean.
The bathroom was clean and the shower worked well, but I have to say that the loo roll was like sandpaper - definitely the cheapest you could ever get! We had soap in our dispenser though and clean fresh towels.
We were a few floors up, so we didn't hear any troublesome music, as other reviewers have commented on, but our room fronted onto the very busy road below so it was noisy, unless the double glazing was completely closed.
We paid to watch a film, which was fine, but the TV's are restricted from being turned up much, so I had to sit on the end of my bed so I was close to the TV to hear comfortably.
The highlight for us were the pizzas we ordered!! There are take-away menus at reception and the pizza/kebab place is the only one which delivers to the hotel. The pizzas were lovely and a good price, so we would certainly recommend that take-away!
Total down-side is that the hotel is being re-furbished and there is nothing on the website to pre-warn you. We had to go through plastic covers and sawdust and wooden walkways to get into reception and there was noise and workmen's equipment everywhere - it was awful. We didn't go down for breakfast because of that. If we had been warned, we wouldn't have minded so much (although to be fair we would most probably have booked somewhere else!).
One plus side is that it is right next to the train station, which is very convenient.
All in all, not great, but not horrendous either. I would not have wanted to spend 2 nights there though, so I suppose that says something!
