We stayed for two nights at Jury's Hotel, end of April.
On arrival, entered our 5th floor room (510) and couldn't believe how tiny it was. Barely room to walk around the bed, only one bedside table, with a desk table opposite. There was nowhere to sit apart from on the bed as there was no chair in the room. There was no mirror anywhere (except in the bathroom) so nowhere to dry hair. The "wardrobe" was approx 6" wide, hardly sufficient for two peoples' clothes, and no cupboards to put anything away in. No ironing board or safe anywhere. The lighting in the main room was appalling, it was very dim.
The bathroom was miniscule, we're not that fat but struggled to sit down on the loo, it was a squeeze!
Our friends arrived later that evening, and invited us into their room next door. We couldn't believe how big it was compared to our room, and we were paying the same nightly rate as they were! The fire escape plan on the wall showed our room as being the same size as our friends', but it wasn't, it was probably less than half the size of theirs!
Anyway, we were in a rush to go out and meet more friends, so put up with it that night. Next morning however, we complained to the Receptionist, and the Duty Manager very kindly arranged for us to move rooms. The new room was just across the corridor, so we could still be near our friends.
The difference in the upgraded room was amazing - at least we could swing a cat there! It had a huge bed, a sofa, the desk had a chair, the bathroom was a decent size, and there was plenty of cupboard space. Complete with ironing board, safe AND trouser press! The bathroom was pretty large as well. It was absolute luxury compared to the first room.
So thank you Jurys for arranging the swap, though we should never have been given 510 in the first place - maybe it should be classed as a room for a single occupant? If allocated to two people, it should be at an economy rate and guests shouldn't have to pay the same as people in decent sized rooms! Being cooped up in the tiny room for one night spoilt what was otherwise a perfect weekend in Bristol.
As far as the way the rooms faced, the first room faced an inner courtyard, which although wasn't the best view, was very quiet. The second room faced the road at the front, and being on the 5th floor we didn't really experience any road noise. More the noise from seagulls!

I am the recently appointed General Manager of Jurys Hotel Bristol. Many thanks for your comments and as mentioned, we are indeed nearing completion on a mutli-million pound refurbishment programme, that is being carried out across the hotel.
We have just recently opened The River Grille restaurant & The River Lounge, overlooking the harbourside, with its relaxed atmosphere it is indeed one of the best settings in the city.
I would be delighted for you to come and stay with us, and experience us again, please contact me by email and I will personally look after your booking.
Again many thanks for your feedback.
