When we arrived my whole family were very excited, when we left we had a slightly different perspective. To start when we were greeted at the front entrance it wasn't welcoming, my daughter had to go back and ask the lady for a leaflet as we had not been given one. The cafe was ok, food was nice and tasty and reasonably priced, but the ploughman's could have been improved by the addition of warm bread and fresher salad. We then walked down to the animal centres, they had a wide range of animals; though some of the animals looked sad and needed some TLC, they had Giraffes, Rhinos, Tigers, small animals and more although my daughters were very very upset when we saw the ducks, they were kept in an inside compacted pen, all struggling for misty water, but no pond in sight. we thought this was strange as it was a very hot day, the straw den and animal area (horses, donkeys, lamas etc..) was another yet disapointment, all the pens were very small and didn't have much room the two shires and cow in particular were vastly lacking in space, also the lambs that were pregnant were breathing very heavily, once again a very small area and no ventilation. This said the 'hands on' area was very exciting my two daughters loved getting to pet the rabbits and guinea pigs, this was the highlight of the day. They have a wide range of play areas and an amazing maze, my daughters truly loved this! Overall a quite disappointing day, large zoo animals in nice new enclosures where as the smaller ones (little monkeys) and farm animals were in old, dirty and smelly enclosures, c'mon guys you've got the potential, now make it work!
