“Brilliant little hotel”

Holiday Inn Bristol Airport

24 Mar 2008

This is a great little hotel if you are using it for the purpose of catching a connecting flight as it is only 2 miles from the airport. It would not be ideal for a weekend to Bristol as it is right in the countryside approx 12 miles from Bristol itself with nothing else nearby. The hotel has a free telephone service at Bristol Airport at the information desk so when we arrived from Austria we rang them for our free transport to the hotel. We were told 10 mins and they did pick us up within 10 mins of making the call. Check in was extremely quick and the receiption staff were proffessional and friendly. The room was really nice - TV, internet connection, tea/coffee making facilities, safe, sitting area, tolietries etc. It was extremely clean and tidy - you could even choose from five different pillows if those already in the room didn't suit. There was even a puzzle and games booklet for kids. Although our room overlooked the front entrance it was quiet and we had a good nights sleep. The restaurant was excellent - a good range of choices. We opted for roast guinea fowl with swede mash and roast duck with vanilla mash. There were quite a few veggie options on the menu also and a choice of about six desserts. Two mains and two desserts totalled £40. Very tasty. Breakfast was excellent - a choice of approx 8 cereals, crossiants, toast, dried and fresh fruit, five different juices, yoghurt, jams, tea, coffee and the full English (only scrambled egg though). Not bad for £59 for a room inc breakfast. (Booked on the Holiday Inn website). We had our lunch in the hotel also as we were catching a late evening flight. Again a good selection ranging from sandwiches, soup and ciabattas to burgers, chicken dishes, steaks and again a few veggie options. Lunch was very tasty and large portions also, approx £21 for two mains and two glasses of wine. Although check out is 1200 hrs, the staff very kindly let us put our two cases and two bags behind receiption until we left in the evening. We noticed that when a family with four children arrived, the kids were given a gift by the hotel - either a small raggy doll by the or a goodie bag which seemed to contain several things including a disposable camera. Couldn't really fault this hotel in any way. Will definately use it again if we need to fly from Bristol.

“Great rate shame about the Breakfast”

Arrived late in the evening and was greated by a welcoming smile, the receptionist who checked me in was very polite and helpful. The hotel is geared towards people staying and catching a flight, I did not fall into this ctaegory which through them a bit when they asked when my flight departed and what was the flight number. It seemed they book early morning calls around the flight times which is quite a good service. I asked if I could get a certain newspaper in the morning and was told they did not offer that service yet they would have a pile of the Independent and I could take one of them.
The hotel from the outside looks quite modern, and does look a little like an express. The room was really nice, it was decorated in a modern theme, the bed was quite soft and the room lighting was the standard holiday inn affair of lots of little lights around the room. The bathroom was very small with a even smaller bath, being 6ft 4ins, I find hotel baths quite small anyway. This one just big enough to sit upright in but not to relax.
The hotel was quiet at night apart guests banging doors.
Breakfast
The buffet looked just okay the service was appalling, there were tables full of rubbish and no-one was clearing them. I asked the waitress if they had a specials board, she responded that the whole buffet was special. I asked for some poached eggs but got told they are not avaliable here. The only egg product they had was scrambled, the sausage was red in the middle and the bacon was undercooked. The plates for the hot food were kept nice and cold in the chiller. The coffee was very weak and cold. I had been tempted to order room service but the menu was uninspiring with lots of basic fare.

Stayed here to catch an early morning flight from BRS. Nice room, very clean (including bathroom), comfy bed, enough space to move around. Whole hotel looked like it had been recently upgraded, in fact. Nice decor. Only complaint with the room was that the remote for the TV was broken. Had a drink and some snacks in the bar area - a bit pricey for what we got, but very tasty and good service. Nice, comfortable seating area in the bar with couches, chairs, etc. to hang out. Front desk staff very friendly and helpful. Overall, a very good experience. Would certainly stay here again.

“Nice Hotel in the Middle of No Where”

Me and my wife were very please with the hotel. It is a very nice modern hotel; however it is in the absolute middle of no where. This was not a big deal for use because we were just staying the night and had to catch a 6:00 AM flight out of the Bristol Airport the next morning. The rooms were very nice and the free shuttle to the airport was great. The web site said that the hotel had a business center, but this was not true. However, the hotel staff let us jump around the counter and check our airline reservation and print our e-tickets. That was great. Since this hotel is literally in the middle of no where we had to eat at the hotel which was good but pricey.
