Anyone wishing to stay in the Bristol area could not do better than to stay at East Harptree Court.
The approach to the house is down a long and most beautifully kept avenue of trees, and when the house comes into sight, it is joy to behold, a most elegant building set in magnificent and well-kept grounds.
Inside things are at the same standard.
We were met at the door by "Linda” a most attentive hostess who, after we had signed in, in the hall with its large open fire, conducted us to our room, the Lavender room, which was tastefully decorated and had everything in it for a guests comfort, right down to toothpaste and a sewing kit!
The bed was large and comfortable with quality "fittings" , Sheets , pillows and Duvet, No foam filled pillows here!, and the bath in the en-suite was to be remembered, with copious hot water available.
Despite our visit being during a cold snap, the whole building was beautifully warm, the open fire only complementing the central heating system.
Breakfast, the other part of B+B, was of the same high standard, with a large choice. Local eggs and Ham, and Marmalade, made by man of the house, Quite excellent, were all part of the feast. First class!
The village of East Harptree is a very pretty Somerset village and has the added advantage of having a "Pub" that serves much above average food. It is within easy walking distance of Harptee court, and on the night we visited, a Tuesday, it was hard to get a table. Apparently many people had come all the way from Bristol for the curry night.
To summarize then, a most pleasing experience.
East Harptree court is very special .I could not recommend it more highly.

“Simply the best”

Harptree Court

I have travelled all over the UK with my work, and this is certainly among the best places, if not THE best, I have stayed in. A beautiful house and gardens, perfect peace and tranquility, and Linda and Charles are wonderful hosts with an eye for detail that makes a stay here a real joy. I'm not sure it would be appropriate for young children, but for anyone else who needs to stay in the area you could not ask for more.

“What a wonderful find!”

Harptree Court

23 Mar 2008

We knew we were in for a treat as we approached Harptree Court along one of its magnificent driveways. As we passed the lake and waterfall we could see the stunning court ahead of us. We received a very warm welcome from Charles who then brought us a lovely afternoon tea with scones which we enjoyed in the very comfortable sitting room - what a treat! Our bedroom was beautifully decorated and very clean and comfortable. It rained during our stay, but that didn't stop us from taking a stroll around the grounds and admiring the daffodil lined driveway. (we needed to do this to walk off our delicious breakfast). Linda and Charles are great hosts and we are looking forward to being able to visit again very soon - hopefully without the rain so that we can play tennis this time!

“Favourite B & B”

Harptree Court

13 Mar 2008

This was our second stay at Harptree Court but I hope there will be many more. From the hot scones that come with afternoon tea served on arrival in the guests sitting room, to th e selection of DVDs in the bedroom to the loan of a torch and umbrella for the walk to the nearby pub there is incredible attention to detail and good service. The rooms are large and beautifully decorated and come with fruit, biscuits and tea service. The breakfasts are served in an elegant dining room and are sumptious. The house is set in gorgeous grounds, is full of family antiques and has an interesting history. The owners are charming, friendly and available. Both our visits have been in spring when the daffodils lining the driveway are out but we plan to return in other seasons to enjoy the garden. This is what all B & Bs should strive to be.
