We have just had a wonderful overnight stay at Harptree Court, East Harptree near Bristol. Reccommended to us by a friend as being close to the city of Wells where we were invited to a wedding and also as being a quiet and peaceful place in beautiful surrounding countryside. It was easy to book via email which i obtained from their own website. The reply was immediate and very accommodating as my husband is very tall and required a bed where his feet do not touch the foot board.
We arrived early afternoon to a warm and courteous welcome, shown to our beautiful room over looking the gardens at the front of the property. A very large and airy room with tall windows and luxurious bedding and curtains (Lavender Room). We changed and sped back to Wells for the wedding.
I would thoroughly reccommend this lovely 200 year old stately home as a perfect place to stay.
Our overnight stay was comfortable and very quiet and peaceful. The ensuite room was perfect (the bathroom door took a bit of practice to close but we managed it in the end) We were asked when we wanted breakfast and all was ready. Other residents, which we had no idea were there as it was so quiet, were very nice people and we chatted over breakfast in the lovely dining room. Breakfast was just about what ever we wanted, all local produce; fruit, cereal, juice, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, cooked, cold, and toast and marmalade. All arrived piping hot except the toast, but it wasnt entirely necessary to be too hot anyway.
The owners of the beautiful 200 year old house were the epitome of wonderful welcoming people, kind, polite and i would definitely stay there again.
Only 10 minutes from Wells, about 30 from Yeovil (although we got a bit side tracked) 1 hour from Abbottsbury. Close to Wookey Hole and the Cheddar Caves so we would definitely visit again.
