Our stay at Harptree Court was genteel, extremely friendly, calm and completely relaxing. It is everything you could hope for from a family run English country house. Rooms are large, scrupulously clean and well maintained and somehow you want to help the owners to preserve the family history and respect all the furniture. We were greeted with a cream tea with homemade scones and nothing was too much trouble, even an escort to the local pub through the village. The beds had lovely feather duvets and pillows and the linen was crisp and fresh, such a difference from a commercial laundry. Breakfast was oustanding, great muffins, scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, but lots more choice too, using all local produce and some from the estate, such as honey from their own bees. We took a lovely walk around the grounds and even though it was a damp day and it is not a formal garden for the type of property, there were lots interesting ponds, bridges and loads of birds. The owners really want you to enjoy it as much as they do and we were happy to oblige.

Peace and tranquility was found in a wonderful English village. The house is a beautiful 200 year old manor amongst its own grounds. The owners, Charles and Linda, made you feel as though you were staying in your own little secret hideaway. I had asked for a romantic room to treat my husband on his birthday and we could not have been more pleased with our location. Our room had views across the lawn towards the lake where we were greeted in the morning by a beautiful swan. We would highly recommend this country house if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer!

We have recently returned from a 3 night stay at Harptree Court.
The house and grounds are lovely.

A delicious cream tea was served on arrival in the Guest's Sitting Room. We stayed in the Rust Room which is a beautiful room with fantastic views of the grounds.

Linda & Charles are very warm and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble, checking to make sure you have everything you need. They are happy to help with information on the surrounding area and places to visit. (Provided us with a O/S map of Cheddar Gorge for our walk.)

The breakfast, a culinary delight, sets you up for the whole of the day! Everything cooked to order.

We highly recommend a stay at Harptree Court and hope to return.

We have just had a wonderful overnight stay at Harptree Court, East Harptree near Bristol. Reccommended to us by a friend as being close to the city of Wells where we were invited to a wedding and also as being a quiet and peaceful place in beautiful surrounding countryside. It was easy to book via email which i obtained from their own website. The reply was immediate and very accommodating as my husband is very tall and required a bed where his feet do not touch the foot board.
We arrived early afternoon to a warm and courteous welcome, shown to our beautiful room over looking the gardens at the front of the property. A very large and airy room with tall windows and luxurious bedding and curtains (Lavender Room). We changed and sped back to Wells for the wedding.
I would thoroughly reccommend this lovely 200 year old stately home as a perfect place to stay.
Our overnight stay was comfortable and very quiet and peaceful. The ensuite room was perfect (the bathroom door took a bit of practice to close but we managed it in the end) We were asked when we wanted breakfast and all was ready. Other residents, which we had no idea were there as it was so quiet, were very nice people and we chatted over breakfast in the lovely dining room. Breakfast was just about what ever we wanted, all local produce; fruit, cereal, juice, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, cooked, cold, and toast and marmalade. All arrived piping hot except the toast, but it wasnt entirely necessary to be too hot anyway.
The owners of the beautiful 200 year old house were the epitome of wonderful welcoming people, kind, polite and i would definitely stay there again.

Only 10 minutes from Wells, about 30 from Yeovil (although we got a bit side tracked) 1 hour from Abbottsbury. Close to Wookey Hole and the Cheddar Caves so we would definitely visit again.

Anyone wishing to stay in the Bristol area could not do better than to stay at East Harptree Court.
The approach to the house is down a long and most beautifully kept avenue of trees, and when the house comes into sight, it is joy to behold, a most elegant building set in magnificent and well-kept grounds.
Inside things are at the same standard.
We were met at the door by "Linda” a most attentive hostess who, after we had signed in, in the hall with its large open fire, conducted us to our room, the Lavender room, which was tastefully decorated and had everything in it for a guests comfort, right down to toothpaste and a sewing kit!
The bed was large and comfortable with quality "fittings" , Sheets , pillows and Duvet, No foam filled pillows here!, and the bath in the en-suite was to be remembered, with copious hot water available.
Despite our visit being during a cold snap, the whole building was beautifully warm, the open fire only complementing the central heating system.
Breakfast, the other part of B+B, was of the same high standard, with a large choice. Local eggs and Ham, and Marmalade, made by man of the house, Quite excellent, were all part of the feast. First class!
The village of East Harptree is a very pretty Somerset village and has the added advantage of having a "Pub" that serves much above average food. It is within easy walking distance of Harptee court, and on the night we visited, a Tuesday, it was hard to get a table. Apparently many people had come all the way from Bristol for the curry night.
To summarize then, a most pleasing experience.
East Harptree court is very special .I could not recommend it more highly.
