I stayed here for a romantic weekend getaway with my boyfriend. The owners were very friendly and the room was lovely, although a little small for 2 people and luggage. We had a double room with shower (the toilets were just up the stairs). The full english breakfast is wonderful and served in a nice dining room. My only complaint is that the dining room was right next door to our bedroom, and so we could hear everything from 7am onwards. Ask for a different room if you like to sleep late.

A very comfortable and welcoming Guest House with good accommodation and attention to detail.
We were made to feel very welcome and enjoyed our short stay and excellent breakfast.
It is easy to see why this establishment has a 4 diamond rating.

“friendly, quiet, good breakfast”

My teenage daughter and I stayed here a night in early July. It was great; clean, fresh and friendly. The room we stayed in had a newly installed replica arts & crafts fireplace. The owners are investing in the premises and give the definite impression of liking guests and liking their jobs.

The breakfast was large, cooked to order, and good. The only negative is that it is a bit of a walk north of campus. This is the best of teh three B&B we tried on our trip.

My husband and I stayed four nights at Victoria House. We got a downstairs front room next to the entrance door and were a bit worried that noise from the road and from people coming and going would keep us awake, but it never was a problem and we slept quite well. The sound proofing of our room door could have been better though, because during daytime you could hear every word people were saying in the hallway.

Our room was on the small side and so was the private bathroom, but both were very clean and you could tell someone had tried to make the most out of limited space with practical solutions. The one-grip bathroom fixtures and the thermostate in the shower were a welcome sight after struggling with those old fashioned two-faucet things they seem to have everywhere else in Britain. Heated towelrack was another nice touch that we appreciated.

The room had a comfortable bed. The mattress was medium firm and one person could turn around without waking the other on up. I get back problems with too hard beds, my husband gets them with too soft beds, but this one was actually fine for both of us.

For breakfast there was full English (except black pudding) or continental, and additionally every day there was a big bowl of fresh fruit salad and several kinds of yoghurts and cereals to chose from. The coffee was served in a coffee press for freshness. Good quality all over, eggs served just the way you like them (poached, fried, flipped, scrambled...).

The owners were friendly and helpful, they seemed to really enjoy their work. We tried several of the pubs they recommended and were pleased with them all.

The locations is on the outskirts of Cambridge in a resident area. We generally took the bus to town and walked (20-25 minutes) or took a taxi back, as we never managed to find the right bus going back again (sounds silly, but it is true!).

Emma and Duncan take so much care to make you feel welcome: Duncan's breakfasts are wonderful, beds are comfortable, rooms are clean. I don't know how Emma manages to operate such a well run guest house while looking after the kids, dog and still has time to talk to guests.
The only negatives were that not all rooms have ensuites and our room was so full of furniture that we were constantly tripping over suitcases so I couldn't imagine staying for an extended time.
Biscuits, tea, coffee and hot chocolate sachets were replaced daily and toiletries supplied. Even though our room was at the front of the house, we had no trouble with traffic noise. There are some shops within a few minutes walk but allow about 20 minutes to walk into Cambridge.
Staying here is like staying with friends
