Our escape to paradise was this lovely old B&B just outside the cathedral city of Ely, Cambridgeshire. Our hosts, Pam and George Kemp have lovingly restored the old vicarage at Littleport and have created a warm welcoming retreat. Their welcome as we arrived was like meeting an old friend, and by the end of our stay we felt like family. On arrival we were treated to a tray of coffee, tea and homemade treats served to us in their superb sun-drenched conservatory. After a leisurely cup of tea and chat we were shown to our room. A delightful large airy room with matching en-suite, tv, and coffee/tea making facilities, complete with a selection of chocolate biscuits. The whole house is spotlesslessly clean and tastefully decorated. Pam and George have tried to think of everything to make their guests stay a memorable one. They have created a lounge especially for the guests, which to call comfortable is an understatement. Should our stay have been in the winter there is a large open fire in this room, which we understand is lit for the pleasures of the guests. The gardens are extensive and include a small lake and a practise golf hole, I think George created this more for himself than the guests! After an exceptionally quiet and peaceful night, we woke to be treated to a breakfast special which included homemade jams, fresh fruit from their garden, raspberry compote and all the trimmings of a full English breakfast. Nothing is too much trouble for Pam and George. They try to cater for all tastes and dietary requirements, and genuinely take great pleasure in making your stay a memorable one which only feeds a desire to return. Can't wait for my next visit.
