Thank you for your kind comments. We all appreciate TripAdvisor Travelers' comments.

Please excuse me if I make just one comment regards what I perceive as being a "negative" comment with guests having to sit in the sitting room or bar prior to dinner to have their orders taken.

This is not written in stone. I see this little ritual as only a comfort for guests to relax on sofas etc prior to dinner sipping a drink and to have their dinner order taken in that relaxed atmosphere.

It is of course quite in order if guests wish to go straight into the Restaurant. I would hate to feel that any guest feels that management unreasonably impose on them and sorry that you felt that way.

I know the point is pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things but just wanted to clarify the point for other travellers.

We are truly sorry to read your report and how unhappy you were although it has taken you a month to write your complaint.

We had many guests staying for a week and more during this December (while we closed for quite a bit of the month also) and we are totally unaware of anyone being unhappy other than a couple of guests who walked out in the middle of the night without paying their bill and only learnt of their "unhappiness", as yours, via TripAdvisor.

We have looked through our records and unable to determine who you are as no one on Reception was asked by any guest to move rooms nor did we receive any negative comments regards the food nor did we have any guests from Maidenhead.

It is true we have had a problem with the water supply but SouthWest Water have been to the hotel and it seems have rectified a water supply problem.

Other than that, I am wondering if you got the right Fieldhead Hotel as there are some others of the same name and also we invite Guest Comments on our Guest Feed-back forms in every room and which, when completed are on display in the Sitting Room and we just do not receive negative comments but with hospitality, courtesy, cleanliness, food and the wonderful views always high on the list of compliments.

Our return guests rate is enormous and do believe that suggests we are getting it right.
