Well, what can I say, it appears that it has already been said many times before. This guesthouse is an absolute star and worthy of six stars if it were possible. Colin and Liz are such hospitable owners/operators that clearly care about what they are doing with their business. There was really nothing that I could fault.
The breakfasts were amazing and having travelled extensively over the years in various standards of accommodation all over the world, I can honestly say that this was one of the best breakfasts that we have been given. The fruit was really fresh, not out of a tin, it included, two different types of melon, blueberries, pomegranate, grapefruit, peaches, prunes, black & green grapes and bananas. Oh and Colin's extra special red syrup/sauce to compliment the fresh fruit. Then there was about five types of cereal with dried seeds, coconut, cranberries and raisins to go on top of the cereal. Yoghurts of various flavours. Orange juice and Pago bottled juices. Then if you had room after all the above, there is an incredibly generous bacon, hogs pudding, sausage, fresh tomatoes, beans, mushrooms and a choice of eggs or........ smoked haddock and poached eggs, kippers or smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Truly amazing!
The rooms are nicely decorated and spotlessly clean, as is the whole place throughout. The beds have good quality mattresses. Believe me, as someone who has a broken back, I know a good bed when I sleep on one. There are nicely stuffed pillows, which is always a pleasure, as I normally carry my own pillow just in case, but in this instance, it was not required. The bathroom was modern and had everything you would require, with lovely fluffy white towels. Our room had a little bottle fridge in it, which again was a nice touch.
The view from the room we were in was stunning and the perfect wide opening window was great to be able to get a good view of the whole harbour was an added bonus.
Free wifi is available throughout the whole place.
A little bar is situated just off the lounge, should you like to partake in a little refreshment before or after dinner.
The location is fabulous, you are far enough away for peace and quiet but close enough to walk into the main area, which was perfect for us, as I am on crutches.
Colin and Liz are really suited to this type of business. They take the time to make sure that everything is just right for you, without being intrusive. Nothing is too much trouble for them and you feel that it is genuine from both of them.
We will definitely be back next year, that is a fact, as we loved this place very much. Please do not get so popular that we cannot get in to stay!
Good luck in all that you do Colin & Liz, and thank you for looking after us so very well. It was a pleasure meeting you both.
