Had seen The Metro on previous stay so decided to book in for Easter.

Place was great. All equiped in "Ikea chic". It was clean, warm and very friendly. The rooms were just the right size with just the right furniture. Shower room was clean, beds were made daily and the place was clean and tidy with no fuss.

Breakfast was a continental style in buffet format. There was an open kitchen / dining area and a cominual lounge if you wanted. Plenty of local info available.

Highly recomend this hotel and we will definitely be going again.

The strange part about this hotel was having to clear your breakfast things yourself and stack them in a dishwasher. Isn't that what we do in Youth Hostels not hotels. Our room had a foul smelling drain but to be fair we were able to move rooms but what would have happened if there wasn't a room free? The staff were very helpful and friendly. Rooms at the front were on busy main road and noisy. The town was quite a distance away.

We were looking for a break from the traditional b&b and we found what we were looking for. It is like walking into an IKEA showroom when you go through the front doors but we like that so we felt right at home. If you are looking for a traditional b&b then you would not like it. The breakfast room is a little unusual as it is fully self service but in fact is the same as as Holiday Inn Express we recently stayed in except you are asked to clear your own tables when you have finished. This system works well because at any time you can bring back your own take away food and use all of the facilities like plates and glasses etc. to eat in the evenings so it gave you flexibility you dont normally get whilst on holiday. The continental breakfast buffet was good and out till 11 o clock so we lay in every day until 10.45 and still got to eat. Yipee!!
Our room was like another IKEA display and the shower en-suite was modern and very clean. It is true that there is no longer a swimming pool but we spent our time on the beach so it didn't bother us and where the pool was is now a lovely sundeck with countryside views so we ate outside every night with a bottle of wine. The Metro has wifi but we didnt use it and there is a computer for us to use in the lounge area and I am writing this review on it now. Would definately reccommend the metro for couples and families

Overall the metro sells itself on its style and flexibility and is definately a refreshing change from the norm. but if you want chintz and a full english this is not for you.

After reading mixed reviews on this hotel, we were a little dubious before arrival. But as soon as we entered the lobby it was like a cosy, home from home. Great facilities, cosy fire, internet, wifi, and a basic yet comfortable, minimalistic style room. Lovely breakfast room with childrens play area, and the buffet breakfast was super!

Unfortuanately the pool is no longer open, but apart from that, we could not fault The Metro. For the price we paid it was great!

Highly recommended (and we're both extra fussy!!!).
