“Long Weekend”

Edgcumbe Hotel

I felt like I was walking back in time when I entered this hotel. It is VERY VERY dated and has that smell that old hotels have. Check in was easy and quick enough but the room was awful. It was extremely small and smelled damp and musty. The room decor is also very dated and nothing matched. Quite an interesting selection of colours and furniture! As a result we spent as much time as possible enjoying the local area and simply used the hotel to get our heads down. The breakfast buffet was good and the pools looked fine but I definitely would not stay here again no matter how cheap.

Only stayed here because it was about the cheapest hotel I could find, so I can't complain too much. Everything was ok, no worse, no better. Would spend a bit more money if I needed accommodation in Newquay again as I would prefer something a bit nicer but if you're always out and about and only use the place for sleep and breakfast, it would be be ok.

After a horrible long journey we arrived at the hotel tired and teasy. The reception girl was so friendly and helpful, when we got to our room we had an amazing view of the bay, it was beautiful. Everyone in the hotel was friendly and extremely helpful always willing to answer our questions. The food was good. We had a wonderful break and cant wait to go back, the journey was well worth it.

“Unbelievably Bad”

On arrival our room smelt musty, damp and had dirty bed covers and side table.

The outside swimming pools are a good size and warm. A local duck comes to swim daily too - which could put you off!

Our breakfast was poor and service was shocking. Parking can be a problem - but you can park at another hotel down the road and around the corner if you so wish!

We stayed at the Edgcumbe over easter, it was a unexpected weekend away. We found them on the internet and noticed they were running a really good special offer. When we arrived early, the reception was really helpful and managed to check us in straight away. To our surprise we had an amazing sea-view, the room was a nice size and was spotless. Our food was wonderful, I loved the desert buffet!!!!! we would definetly go back as the staff were really friendly and couldnt do enough for us, and really made the trip. Just a pity it was only a weekend.
