OK, quick review following on from last years fiasco.
You probably think that I'm stupid for even going back to this place, but I thought that by arranging to stay in a SPECIFIC caravan and having this confirmed that I would have no problems this year.
How wrong I was.
We should have been in a private rental, top of the range caravan. Exactly the same one that my in laws stayed in last year. Perfect! Guess what? We get to reception, join the long queue and after a while we get given a key for a caravan in a different part of the park. There were three parties this time, but they didn't seem to have two other caravans straight away. Hmmm.
I pointed out that we had CONFIRMED a SPECIFIC caravan. After more shifting of papers, I was told that this caravan was not available. They offered us three caravans spread from one end of the park to the other. I explained that we were on holiday together and wanted to be near eachother, as requested when we booked. I told them that we had booked specific caravans and what they had offered us was in no way acceptable. They blamed it on Head Office changing bookings. What a load of b*llocks.
They said that the site was fully booked, so there was nothing they could do but put us in whatever they did have available. More b*llocks.
More shuffling of papers and then we were told to go to the bar until they sorted this out. I asked what they were actually going to do about it and how long it would take. I didn't want to go to the bar, I wanted to start my holiday.
After a while we got given the keys to three caravans near eachother and were told to check them out. They were not really up to scratch compared to what we had actually booked, but not wanting to waste even more time, we accepted.
Upon returning to the reception in order to book in, imagine my surprise when the reception manager told us that she was in the middle of dealing with someone else and there was a queue. I reminded her that she hadn't finished with us yet, so with a blank look she signed us in.
The caravans had clearly been evacuated in a hurry.
In ours, there was poo smeared on the toilet seat, hairs all over the dressing tables in the bedrooms, dirty cups on the mug tree, there was some food left in the fridge and a thick layer of grease on the cooker hood. The cleaner came around to ask if all was OK. When I told her, she shook her head and said we should have reported it. We cleaned it ourselves as we didn't have the time to waste waiting for a cleaner.
The DVD didnt work at all, it didn't even close so the tray was stuck out all week. There were dead flies all around the caravan. The glass shelf in the tiny bathroom was not attached at one end, so if anything had been placed on it, it would have fallen and smashed. I took it down for safety reasons.
The lumpy, skeletal sprung main bed was a king sized one. The duvet was not.
Yet again, a caravan that needed some TLC just to make it habitable.
What really pees me off the most is that the reception manager is NEVER apologetic when they mess up, which is every time. She treats you as if they are doing you a favour by allowing you into their site.
Clearly my plan of making a CONFIRMED booking of SPECIFIC caravans didn't work. Once payment was made, they didn't care. Which just about sums them up.
Best tip I can give is DON'T BOTHER.
