We stayed at Halwell Lodge for three nights in September. Julie and Matt the owners were very friendly and welcoming and immediately made us feel at home. Our room on the ground floor, overlooking the garden, was spotlessly clean, very comfortable with good quality furnishings with a new flat screen television. Guests are free to use the pleasant conservatory and pretty garden. The breakfasts were excellent, everything cooked on an Aga, there was lots of choice, fresh fruit, yogurts, cereals, croissants and of course the full English. Julie will also provide packed lunches, evening dinner and super cream teas (best scones we had during our week in Cornwall).
At first we didn't think there was much to Lelant, but there are some lovely walks down to the sea, and you can join the coastal path and walk for miles. Halwell Lodge has plenty of parking, and there are excellent rail links to St Ives, Truro and Penzance. It was really easy to walk to the stations, Lelant and Lelant Saltings Stations are only 5 and 10 minutes walk away, and it was so easy and quite cheap to hop on the train, and you don't have to worry about parking when you get to your destination. Parking in St Ives can be quite a problem in the season. The train journey into St Ives must be one of the prettiest in the country. Although we didn't use them there seemed to be frequent buses to various places. If you are looking for a good quality B&B, with friendly hosts and good food all at a very reasonable price in the St Ives area then look no further.
