“The Best!”

Blue Hayes Hotel

21 Feb 2008

This is the perfect place. The hotel is wonderful and views from the rooms are breathtaking accross the bay.We stayed in the master suite which was large with a four poster bed and huge bathroom. The suite has its own terrace where you can enjoy a glass of wine overlooking St Ives. The hotel's decor is very relaxing and the staff in particular make you feel so welcome. Breakfasts - wow what can I say.- excellent.Escape through the garden on to the coastal path and enjoy a stroll down to the town. Its a bit steep on the way back though.!

The refurbishment of a former seaside hotel into a "bijou maison" with fewer rooms, each one a suite, was the recent accomplishment of owner/proprietor, Malcolm. Now he and his staff share the oohs and aahs of their guests and the twinkle in Malcolm's eyes reflects his own delight too. This lovely white building houses some of the most comfortable suites available, each one with its own personality. We were given a tour of the suites by Sue, office manager, and they all definitely have their own ambiance and appeal.

We stayed in The Godrevy - its grace being space, views and quietude. Each suite is on its own mezzanine level so all are away from the noise of doors etc.

From floor (white carpeting) to ceiling (check out that myriad of tiny lights) the hotel is equipped with top of the line fittings and furnishings - very relaxing to guests.

Good food and drinks, ultra-comfy beds, squashy enveloping white sofas, personable staff, lovely garden and terraces, showers and baths to die for - what more does one want to recycle weary bodies into rejuvenated relaxed and rested people?

There is an expression in England which is that something "Ticks all the boxes" - meaning that he, she or it passes all tests A-One. This expression can definitely be used to describe this hotel - Blue Hayes ticks all the boxes!

“Wedding Night Hotel”

Blue Hayes Hotel

10 Nov 2007

Like one other reviewer here, we stayed at this hotel after getting married at Tregenna Castle across the street. (Because while the grounds were stunning and our reception room was decent, the rooms at Tregenna weren't were I wanted to spend my wedding night.)

The Blue Hayes, on the other hand, was amazing. We had the Trelyon Suite with the balcony which was lovely, although we didn't have much time to enjoy it. The room was modern, very comfortable, and everything was ultra clean and new. The hotel itself is really interesting, with so few rooms on so many different levels it felt like you had your own floor, or even your own wing of the place.

The staff were friendly and really funny. Breakfast was fantastic and I wished I could have stayed there for at least one more night. The general feeling at breakfast when we spoke to the other guests is that they loved the place and booked a week or two every summer (which is why it gets booke up so fast.)

We loved it. At first glance it's very pricey but it's about the same as other places in St Ives and definitely better than anything else we've seen. So WELL worth the money.

“The Blue Hayes Hotel St Ives, excellent for weddings and weekends”

Blue Hayes Hotel

We first went to this hotel back in August 2006 on a very miserable Wednesday (the only day available), our first impressions were wow.

The welcome received was like no other that we have ever experienced,
Malcolm (owner) made us feel like family.

After looking around we decided to hold our wedding weekend at this hotel, the atmosphere, surroundings and the friendliness of the team at Blue Hayes were just perfect. To be honest we were in love within
2 minutes of stepping through the door.

Our wedding weekend started on the 6th of October 2007, the ceremony was on 7th October 2007.

All 10 all of our family turned up at 3pm, there was no panic but plenty of organisation. Again we were all made to feel at home.

At 4pm we had home made cornish cream teas on the terrace, these were
the best we have ever had.

The day of the ceremony went beautifully, Malcolm and his team Elizabeth, Charlie and Sue (just to name a few) made sure that the whole day was organised, even down to the keepsakes and flowers on the tables.

The breakfast, buffet lunch and dinner were superb. The food was to die for, the only complaints from our guests were that everyone had eaten far too much.

The rooms are beautiful, luxurious, stylish and most importantly comfortable and clean with excellant veiws from each room.

If we were to award this hotel with a star rating there would not be enough stars in the universe.

Our wedding weekend was better that we could of ever wished/hoped for. This was thanks to the organisation and hard work of everyone at
the Blue Hayes Hotel.

We stayed for three nights in this small and friendly hotel and were impressed with the whole set up. The rooms were spacious and immaculately clean, the beds and pillows very comfortable. The staff were both very friendly and extremely helpful. Wonderful views from the rooms with a sea view and very comfortable and relaxing inside the hotel. Whilst we did not have dinner at the hotel, The Porthminster Beach Cafe is only a 10 min walk away ( fairly steep climb coming back!) which is difficult to fault. There is a great choice of food at breakfast at the hotel and we were impressed with the quality of the food and attention to detail. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble and we would have no hesitation in recommending this establishment.
A word of caution, it is quite hilly walking to and from the town centre but there is a very good taxi service.
